I work as an executive assistant (EA) at a tech company and I’m part of this GOD AWFUL ea team. I don’t care for the profession but the pay is good. I’ve been with the company for over a year and because of my experience I can’t even look at another ea posting without feeling sick now. My manager (sr. Ea) and her manager (chief of staff) are literally the worst and should be managing no one. The COS supports the founder- at least she’s supposed to. Every time you ask her a question regarding her executive, she never knows the answer. She’s basically getting paid to twiddle her thumbs. The sr. Ea is..I don’t even know what. I’m not sure exactly what she’s “managing”. The ea team members never work with her or communicate with her outside of sending a message to schedule a meeting. She can’t speak to…

New policy for hospice nurses
The medical company my wife works for has a new policy that nurses have to clock out for a 1 hour lunch. The kicker is that it's a hospice company, and my wife works out of her car more than an hour away. Sometimes she's out in BFE and her case load is often more than 12 hours a day. This company is also asking the nurses to clock out between patients, meaning that they would only be paid mileage for about 5 hours a day. This means that my wife is gone from the home 12 hours a day, but paid only while in a patient's home, getting paid for 6 hours (after an hour lunch). Between clients, as she's driving, it's her responsibility to communicate with the doctors, pharmacists, the office and the family of her patients. Her last two paychecks were half of what we're used to,…
I found my manager in Lego city
I'm noticing that many recruiters, firms etc are not following the law. I've read that there is a penalty for these companies if they fail to comply. I would like to know how to report violations, and then create a tool for the public to send reports of violations to the state, so they can fine them that slap on a wrist (500 to 1k is so low). I'm truly tired of people not doing it the right way. This is supposed to be a market – how can I tell if a job is going to meet my needs without price information? Any advice is welcome. I've taken a look at the L&I Page but there doesn't seem to be a form for reporting violations.
Scheduling BS! Am I crazy??
Okay so. I definitely DEFINITELY want to preface this by saying that I am usually very on top of showing up on time and even without really wanting to, staying longer than I need to in order to help the store. We recently got a new GM and she is just awful. Not releasing my requested days off for medical purposes when I gave a month in advance, further leaving my coworkers to just deal with my absence. And the most frustrating thing right now: At the beginning of this week, I saw that I was only scheduled Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the days were empty. I checked again later that day to be sure and yep. All clear. And then today I get a call from another manager saying I missed my opening shift. I checked the calendar to find that only a couple days ago was…

Added to schedule with no notification
Just opened my work app to double check that I had Saturday off on a whim- only to see that they had added an 8:30-4:00 shift on Saturday (and changed my 12:00-6:00 Sunday shift to that slot as well). As of Thursday (yesterday) morning, I did not work Saturday. I received no notification of this change- no text or call or in-person word from my manager. I’ve been fuming about this all morning. Any advice on how to call out from this without burning any bridges- because the impulsive angry part of me wants to tell them to eat me.
I'm a single mom and I almost walked out today. I love my job, but one of my coworkers makes it difficult sometimes. My boss is great, except for the fact that he doesn't like to get involved in disputes. There are only 3 of us employed by him and he wants us to hash it out like adults. Normally this is fine, but I legit got so bad today I slammed my mouse on my desk and went outside to avoid saying a lot of very ugly things. If it weren't for the fact that I can't afford to not have a job, I would have walked out right then and there. I would have text my boss and told him I was never coming back (he was already gone for the day). I'm at the point where I'd rather work in retail again if it can pay my…
