Anti-Union Learnings at Petsmart
I'm a manager at Petsmart and for the most part I like my job. Today I had to take some required classes that all the leaders have to take across the company and this one stood out for being a guide on how to break up unions. Please forgive the bad quality I had to take pictures of the work computer with my phone.
I am a special type of vender who goes all across my state and others, in many different stores for my job so I know where its good and where its bad. This is for people who want to quit baised on pay, but dont know where else to look. I live in nj but i work in PA as well. This will mostly deal with people in retail because thats what see and who I talk to. merchandising: almost always better. For exmaple the pepsi and coke people tell me when i ask them they make about 25$hr after a few years. with sales reps apparently making even more. reset teams: almost never make more then 1$ over minimum the people giving out food samples in stores seem to make about 17$ but apparently for events it can be far more. Giant Ahold: associates tell me they make 11.50,…
Surprise July 4 opening
Sharing a story I heard today. I was visiting a local cafe and waiting for my order. I struck up a conversation with the cashier and asked if they're open tomorrow (July 4, a holiday here in the US). She said that they weren't supposed to, but the owner changed his mind last minute and informed everyone that they have to work. Then she said that she's very disappointed because she was planning to travel home for a visit and had to push her plans. I agreed that it sucks and that I'm sorry to hear that she had to change her plans. Then I asked her where “home” is. It's Morocco. The cashier had to change her international travel plans because the owner decided people just have to have their coffee on the morning of July 4. I naively thought that a small, local business would treat their employees…
I fear the future for us, Americans.
It has came upon on me that I have been looking through the news, real life scenario of the uprising food prices going up, living costs going up, and everything else is looking like unaffordable at this point. I am scared that it is getting at the point where everything else b comes unaffordable and minimum wage won't be raised at all to match the inflation of things. People continue to tell us myths of tickle down encomiums when Reagan pretty much fucked it all up, inflation would go down when we handled the Covid-19. It's been two years after we pretty much controlled Covid-19, but I see no reason for things to keep in the inflation prices where it becomes everyone's struggle. Recently, the Supreme Court has fucked us, young people, about striking down on the loan forgiveness, when it's completely okay for people to have their $400k PPP…

I’m not sure my title makes sense – basically the idea would be where everyone who pays on a payroll would have to inform this dept with a census for each employee. What they’d give is a general description of the job so it can be categorized, then have what they pay weighed up against that. So say if you had a “marketing director” if you paid them say 15 dollars an hour, it would find the average pay and see how far off of that it was and if it was “too low” you’d get fined for example. Same would be true for how many employees on the floor that didn’t have a stake in the company – so having yourself working at your own business wouldn’t count against you if you weren’t on payroll for example. I don’t know if any of this makes any sense or if…
This has been the hardest month/week of my life. I (28M) currently live 22hrs from the nearest family. My wife (22F) is a SAHW because I was bringing in a substantial income but she had a medical emergency that drained our savings out in May of this year. My boss called me two weeks ago placing me on paid admin leave and then fired me a week later. (Filed a grievance at the request of my union. Will not disclose those details.) And then my mom called me Tuesday last week stating my 100yr old grandfather is dead back in Texas. I am mentally and emotionally drained. I can't even comprehend how to make ends meet and because of the medical emergency we don't have any savings. I have filed for unemployment and I have updated my resume. I'm praying for a miracle that I hear something very soon. I…
