I (28m) have worked in Procurement/Supply Chain for the past 4 years. The past two years were great, I learned the processes quickly, became a Team Lead after eight months, promotion after ten and within 18 months another promotion and I was moved up to an Approving Official (where I oversee a team, review their work, etc) I have contacts at another location, who was offering a 10% raise to do similar work….I took it and now it’s been five weeks and I believe I made a mistake. It’s similar work, but I don’t like management, the processes and other things, also I am no longer an Approving Official but now I am back down where I was 18-24 months ago (job wise, but not pay) I had a corporate meeting this past week and bumped into a guy I’ve known for a while, got to talking and told me…
Month: July 2023
No real reason besides this job is pointless. I wake up everyday and get upset about the fact that I'm working 40hrs a week, with so little time to myself and at the end of it I don't even make enough to rent my own apartment. I'm just over it. I don't wanna live this way. My mental health has gotten worse, I've gained weight, I stopped talking to friends and I don't even enjoy my hobbies anymore. I just feel like everyday I'm wasting away at this job that I probably won't be able to keep over a year anyway. But I feel bad for leaving early because it's last minute and one of my coworkers is out for the week due to her husband having surgery. So if I leave I absolutely know they'll have attitude. I've also only been here about 4months and I've called out once…
How Do you deal with A**lickers
I am Getting affected by an Ass licker Hi All, I am part of a small Organisation it is not a corporate organisation. So since few days a girl has been super active I am very much sure she wants to be the next incharge she is trying things very desperately to do it. She doesn't have a good rapot with others but she keeps being with the senior and try getting closer to him. It's definitely not sexual but just to get unfair advantage. When the senior is not available his wife is incharge so she visits their house also. I don't think the senior is doing these intentionally how do you think I should approach him?
This forum has a lot of (justifiable) issues with horrible bosses. I count myself as one of them. My last job I was promoted to manager and has several people reporting to me. I realized pretty quick I was bad at it. I avoided conflict and took a laissez faire approach to management, giving too little guidance and feedback. My current job manages no one and I enjoy it so much better. I did my staff a disservice when I managed them, but I recognize this. I don’t really want to move into management again. I’m happy being told what to do. So other managers out there: when did you realize you were ill-suited for the job and how did you fix it?
Being 16 in the United States
Over the summer, I've been told that I need to get a job, and I thought I should ask here for any good tips or resources to understand my rights as a worker. (For reference, I live in California.) Are there any good sites I should look for instead of just a basic Google search? Thanks in advance.
I don’t ask for much
Just need to vent, I asked 2 weeks ago if I could have a half day on July 5th so I can bring my truck into the shop and get a tuneup and oil change and tires rotated. I was told yes that’s fine. I’ve reminded them 3 times over the last 2 weeks and now that it’s here I’m looking at a pretty good chance of not making it to the appointment I made because I was contracted out to another construction company today and they’re very far behind on their job and I’m supposed to be some fucking saving grace as if one extra dump truck is gonna make the difference. I’m beyond pissed off that I’m seeing red right now. The shop is 2-3 weeks out right now for getting a vehicle in to them and yes granted it’s all stuff I could do but I’m not…
So a few years ago I got a job working security for a shitty little security company. I gave it a month I didn't like it so my dumb ass gave them the two weeks notice. So they had two weeks to send me a trainee to train. On my last day, on the day that I literally cared the least they sent me a guy to train. Alright I'll do my best. So the kid gets there and immediately just sets up his laptop start gaming. And I told him that we were going to train today, his response was “well they told me that I could be on my computer.” Which they had told me that too, they didn't really give two shits. And I responded with “well I kind of need to train you to do the job first.” So in a huff he closed his computer…
New job is already annoying
Just started a handyman position through a hardware store, they post jobs on an app with certain time frames for the jobs to be completed usually two a day or one big job, I’m getting paid 22 an hour which is decent in my eyes max is 25, I use my own vehicle and tools, they give 30 extra dollars a week to help with wear and tear/ Gas and phone usage, I get a discount through the store and allowance for new tools, I also get 10 dollars for every 5 star review I get which is cool, it’s family owned and they are super nice, the problem is they throw jobs at you last minute or don’t give you enough description on what needs to be done..usually just a couple pictures then it turns out to be more then what the pictures show and takes longer then makes…
