I know this may not be entirely appropriate for this sub but it seems like the right environment to bring this up. Does anyone else absolutely detest LinkedIn? The fake titles The even faker “business coach” titles The smell of desperation The circle jerking The insane fake smiles in profile pics The motivational speeches that are 99% not true The fake interview stories The fake tech startup stories The “homeless man” posts I could go on all day…take it from here…

Workers co-op
I hope it would be a right subreddit for it I would really like in the future open a coffe shop as a co-op to loose mu chains from capitalism. But I am not sure how to do it. Do u have anu sources or reading about that?
So I told my job my roommates have Covid and I need to get a test before I come in. They told me to come in anyways and wear a mask then get tested after work. This seems unsafe and tests are expensive now ($70 in my area) so if im expected to come in when I might have Covid, then I’m not going to get a test at all, maybe an at home but I’ve heard those can be inaccurate anyways. I’ll just wear a mask for the next two weeks or whatever. Is this normal? Is this safe? Is my job breaking some sort of osha code or something? Edit to add: I work in food and will be preparing fully cooked food to be bagged and placed on shelves while having suspected Covid. This seems really unsafe to me.

A Humble Request
Hey guys, I am in an economic rough spot. I have a book I've been working on. And by working on it, I mean I have it as a Word document. If I put the whole thing into a PDF and sell it on Ko-Fi, would anyone be interested in my finished work? Any little bit helps. I'm disabled from severe arthritis that I developed as a result of a surgical mishap. The pain is life-disrupting. It makes even activities of daily living painful and challenging to find the motivation to do when such pain is involved. I’ve applied for disability, but it says it may take months to complete. I don’t have any savings because I’ve fought to do everything I could to stay working, accepting jobs further and further out my field of study and making entry-level wages. I was laid off this May and have been trying…
And yet another Starbucks ️ elects to unionize
Is the Unlimited PTO really unlimited? I believe 30 – 35 days of leave excluding local holidays is the best holiday / vacation policy. Why do tech companies even have them? It surely does attract attention of the applicant and give a psychological assurance 'yeah, you get unlimited holidays, blah, blah'. But in reality, has anyone really got more than 25 – 30 days of leave in a year where the company posts 'Unlimited PTOs'?
You think it would solve everything, if you just get that job you’ve been dreaming of. All these years of school and sacrifice and debt and missed celebrations because you’ve dedicated your life to your craft. And then you walk through those magic doors, and it’s nothing like what you’ve imagined. I know it’s a story told here many times before. But I’m tired. I’ve been working hard most of my life and at 27 years old, after just landing my dream gig, I’m fucking exhausted of working, just one week in. And now. What do I do? I can’t just up and quit. I just moved into a new place in an expensive city, that I can barely afford to live in on this paycheck. Finding another job would take months. The company has already poured so much time and effort into me. Right? I feel like I’m stuck…
After working for the past 15 years, I am seriously considering to just quit my job and to live a year from my savings and just travel the world – read – excercise – spend time with my loved ones – do something for my health etc Yet I see all these posts where people who did this are then treated like lunatics when they apply for their next job. Seriously? If you dare to quit the Hamster wheel for one year there is supposed to be something wrong with you? Its sick that this is seen as “something wrong”. Our productiviy has increased tremendously so this is something that should easily be achievable.
