I had been struggling with the boss' attitude on my first weeks so I gave the 2 week notice. I'm not desperate for money so I put myself first. Today was my last day after a month working there! I'm not the only one. They should be ashamed. The boss won't change and many people in town knows no one wants to work there. My boss asked me to make him a lottery ticket (which we sell) to see if I gave him any luck. He said “Imagine helping the boss you hate to win 30 million” as if me hating him was some joke or something he should be proud of. He has no shame. I really could just laugh. Anyway, he's 60 and so stressed every day from owning that business, and I couldn't be more relaxed. Good riddance.
Month: August 2023
I don't even understand the logic this person follows. He wants me to tell the worker, that missed two shifts this week, because she had to take her mother to hospital, and take her out of hospital, another day. My boss is furious about this and wants me to talk to this worker about it, that we need reliable people at work. Like WTF?
I used to be the same way, let me tell you a story about my metamorphosis from “team-player” to guy who doesn’t give af. I was working at a clothing store for 2 years. I covered at least 2 shifts a week when people called in because the company refused to give me a full time position (probably because they needed me available to cover everyone’s shifts). One day my older sister and her longtime boyfriend decided that they would get married the following weekend. I told my boss that I knew it was short notice, but I needed this day off. My boss knew me very well by this point and knew that my sister was my hero and practically raised me. My boss said “there’s a sale this weekend and I can’t change the schedule with just a few days notice, see if someone will switch shifts with…
A vent and maybe advice? I'm a teacher at a preschool. This week and next are our new enrollment weeks. The teacher in the room above me is getting my students. I walked in yesterday morning and the school director told me she failed to enroll new students in my room until December so she has to cut my hours. I'm basically doing lesson plans and busy work for four hours a day. I plan on getting a second (or different primary) job. It socks because I love this place, I adore the kids, my coworkers are awesome. I'm trying to figure out if I can get partial unemployment or something. I have no idea how to go about this. I'm sort of still in shock.

View in Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul7Y3pZyfMo I second the part about artists, I got burnout after several years after turning my passion into a job, which effectively killed it as a hobby.
Boy do I love onions
Mm. Yes. Onions. Do not listen to your employer, they are good for you. Make sure you have them; they will make you strong. ( if you catch my drift)
I have always hated the stuffed shirt BS work culture. Even jobs that advertise themselves as “cool” seem fake and dumb to me. I cannot stand LinkedIn and I will never be the kind of person who says things like “so proud to be working at ____. Can't wait to take on this challenge!” In an uncharacteristic move, I quit my job due to a corporate takeover which had just made everything ridiculous and changed the scope of my role. Unfortunately I have not found anything else and it has been SIX MONTHS. I feel guilt-ridden every day and applying to jobs has gotten me nowhere. Not to mention I'm applying to jobs that don't sound interesting to me at all. I can't think of any jobs that have really gotten me excited. I hate networking so I don't know that many people, So the “it's who you know” thing…
Quit because of heat
Where I worked moved us out of the air-conditioning in to a hanger with no air and they kept the hangar doors shut. I did body work on airplanes and had to work with fiberglass and glaze. Because of the heat the fiberglass would set up in 2 minutes due to the heat. After weeks of high 80's to 90 degree temperaturesi walked out. Also, the pay was shit.
