Recently transferred to (and then quit) a job at a big hospitality chain, I can't say much about it but I worked surveillance over primarily the casino side of things.
I was one of 4 hired at the time for whqt was seen as a highly desired job from outside the role. It paid really well, but the learning curve was intense as well as working 2×12 hour day shifts followed by 2×12 hour night shifts with 4 days off afterwards. It wrecked my body switching from days to nights so quickly and after about 3 weeks 3 of the new hires had already quit. I lasted just under 3 months before I failed a very strict assessment during the first night shift of the cycle.
They basically sat me down and said they were paying me to the end of the 2 week pay cycle but I'd have to talk to HR about transferring back to another team. There were no positions available and it took 2 weeks for them to even sort a list of jobs available. But luckily here there are good employee projections and they ended up giving me full pay for 5 weeks to sit at home.
Makes me really question these big corporations, how much money would they rather waste than admit their systems don't work and has people leaving in droves.
Numerous people had questioned the strict learning regime for the job as well as the scuffed day/night rosters but they chalk it up as people “not being suited for the role”
