I love working with children and being around them all day but my bosses are always so horrible. At my first daycare job I was told by a young child that bad things were happing at home(she gave more info than that), being this would be my first cps report I went to my bosses for support and told them everything I had been told by the child. They said we should just talk to their parent about it. Absolutely not, if the parent maybe in question of abuse they would likely lie to the daycare, and possible make things worse at home. So I made the report and started looking for a new job.
Day care 2 was okay at first , I like all my coworkers and the kids of course were great but then me and the girls I worked with realized our bosses were changing our hours and cutting them in payroll. We all called the ethics line and it got fixed. BUT then the boss there was aggressive with the kiddos like grabbing aggressively and one time(that I know of) even left a child alone in a room which is a HUGE no-no. I left and stopped doing daycare for awhile.
But now I am at daycare 3. I’ve never worked in a more unhappy place. The bosses are always shit talking employees in front of other employees. We recently had a meeting we’re we were suppose to express our frustration but when someone brought up about the admin team they were told we are not here to “attack” them. Then proceeded to just absolutely dog on all the employees. The only way to know what is happening in the workplace is through gossip, which can be unreliable but is really the only way to get any information on what is happening here. I’ve only been at this daycare for about 2-3 months and I already feel burnt out from the disrespect from the upper management and the horrible culture.
Day care 3 also is extremely understaffed and they have told us at least 10 people have quit within the last month. New hires are dropping like flies and still having audacity to treat the current workers like they are nothing
I really want to work in a daycare because it is a really fun job with kids but I’m running out of daycares in my area that Pay at least a somewhat livable wage to go to.
