Company holding me from moving to new position.

I need advice I have been in my current position for 16 months. I decided to apply to an open position and was offered the job which I accepted. Effective date is 8/15. Transfer paperwork says 8/15. WITHOUT ASKING ME the managers decided they're going to force me to work half the day in my new role and half the day in the position that I'm leaving for the second half of August. I HATE my current position which is why I applied for a different position. My new role requires a shit ton of training and I don't think only getting half the training is really setting me up for success. I told my direct supervisor on Friday I don't want to do half days. I want to just move into my new role just like everybody else. She said she will speak with “upper leadership” and get back…

The manager for the position I'm going to made the comment that she would love if I just moved over but I'm just too good at my (current) position. That really REALLY pissed me off. I am the best employee on my current team. However, failure to plan on management's part is not my problem.

What are my valid options here?
I can't imagine HR would be okay with me being held in a position against my will beyond 8/15 when nobody else is forced to. I am prepared to go to HR on Monday.

If I just roll over and take it it tells them they can treat me however they want so I'm pretty much left with no choice BUT to fight it.

I'm also prepared to flat out quit.

Opinions? Advice? What would you do in this situation?
