End of year reviews…personal rant

This won’t be detailed or informative, but I wanted to share with this group because I am very upset. I was denied a raise today, the only person in my department to not get one. The reason? Because I haven’t “reached my potential” yet. She “knows” and “has seen” that I can do “fantastic work,” but doesn’t think I’ve done it consistently enough to warrant a raise. I haven’t even been here a year. I am still learning the job, and when I first started she said explicitly, “you need at least a year to start getting your footing at a job.” I mentioned this, and she responded, “I know you’re capable of becoming a pro in less than a year, though.” My head is spinning, and I’m so confused. I am devastated and ashamed. I hate working to live; I can’t take this way of living much longer. I…

I’m so tired.
