You don’t have to be a tragedy.

I'm tired of people equating their self worth to the type of job they have. It saddens and infuriates me. Look – At the the end of the day, you donate your time in exchange for monetary compensation. Time, might I remind you, is intrinsically linked to life. So, in essence, you are giving up your life to work. Also, money is not intrinsically linked to life, it's extrinsic. It's forced upon you, and it's forced upon us. I don't care how much you make or what job you do, do NOT find self worth through work. The very fact that people give up their time (which you cannot get back…ever) is a demonstration of a person's self worth already. My point is; we need to stop allowing individuals and society to dictate a person's personality, character, and self worth by the kind of job they do. And we absolutely…

My point is; we need to stop allowing individuals and society to dictate a person's personality, character, and self worth by the kind of job they do. And we absolutely need to stop insulting and degrading those who have jobs that “anyone can do”.

It's insulting on so many levels, and I am beginning to believe that hardly anyone sees it anymore.

To anyone working: You are not a commodity. You are a person. This idea of “selling yourself” for work is literally the state of the world we live in. If you are going to sell yourself, don't compromise yourself to do so.
