I have been working at a restaurant for about two months now and they were giving me way less hours than they promised (I was promised at least 30 and was getting about 15) so I found a new job with way better pay and I was asked to put my written two week notice in at my current job, so I did, about three days ago. Went to work yesterday and the schedule had been posted and it showed yesterday was the last day I was scheduled for, even though I told them the last day I could work was the 25th (yesterday being the 16th). I asked my manager, she called my gm and he basically told her they already hired someone else and they don't have the hours to go around so they just took me off the schedule and that yesterday would be my last day. No notice. I just walked in, checked the schedule, and saw I wasn't on it. I threw an absolute fit because I am not going to be able to pay my bills now and my new job wont let me start until the 25th because the schedule is already done. But they said there was nothing they could do at that point. One of my friends said something about that being retaliation and that I should go to corporate, but I don't know much about all that or how to go about it. Is this legal? Is there anything I can do? Or am I just completely screwed? The place I work is franchise, if that matters. Thanks for any help.
TDLR: job screwed me out of my last two weeks, what can I do?
