Hi, idk what to do about this situation at work. It's Kentucky for reference. Long story short, we were notified yesterday 1/24, that starting this Monday 1/30, we will have to go back to a 1hr unpaid mandatory lunch, making the workday, 30 minutes longer. My schedule is 8am-4:30 with a half hour unpaid lunch. Now, it will be 8-5. This fucks up my schedule, childcare and puts me in height of rush hour traffic for my 40+ minute commute. I only get to see my daughter 2.5 hours a day sometimes. Now, it will be even less. Also not to mention how very fucking unprofessional to do this. Someone quit today. (Lol)
It was an hour afew months ago, and we hated it because it was too long and forces our day to be longer. We just sit there waiting for it to end, or I usually run errands. They finally listened to us and we got it switched. Now, out of nowhere, with less than a weeks notice, they want to switch it back.
I'm wondering if they can even really do this? Is it legal to force an hour long lunch, changing your schedules, and extending your work day with less than a weeks notice?
Thank you.
