Is it too much to ask for decent management these days?!

Quit my job again after 4 months. Was really excited going into it as it was a fairly small company and they promised some great opportunities. Turned out to be the worst managed company I’ve ever worked for. The job required semi-regular travel away for 1-2 weeks at a time. They kept giving me 1-2 days notice to travel. One time it was < 12 hours. Company was meant to provide equipment to complete the jobs. This equipment was almost never provided for properly and we were left to organise it ourselves. Company was meant to provide equipment to complete the jobs. This equipment was almost never provided for properly and we were left to organise it ourselves. A lot of the time this had to be organised outside business hours.

Company had very specific safety procedures that were meant to be followed, those of which are meant to be enforced by a government body, none of which were being followed at all.

Customers were constantly upset due to over promising and under delivering, nothing being delivered on time and terrible communication, much of which was passed on to employees to try and deal with.

Senior management never responded to emails, even when they were regarding safety concerns. When I bought up all these issues and more, there was complete denial that anything was wrong. They refused to promote or hire more managers to help the business.

I’ve been waiting to hear about them on the news after they have a serious safety related incident.
Couldn’t wait to get out of there.
How do companies like this survive? Why should they?

Thanks for reading my rant.
