I was given extra time by my supervisor to prove I deserve a raise after dealing with back to back to back illnesses and being absent for nearly 2 weeks of the past 2 months. Even though I:
A. Went to Urgent Care and spent the $50 copay to get a doctor's note to validate my stomach bug/sinus infection/COVID
B. Never missed a day outside of sickness
C. Made 3 mistakes TOTAL in a single year despite averaging 100 customers A DAY
I've been stressed about not getting the raise because we're living paycheck to paycheck, and a raise could help us start being able to put money away and save.
And then I spoke to my coworker who got hired the same week as me, and they told me it's for .50. Half a dollar. A whole YEAR at the company where, by the way, they just got 7 NEW ACCOUNTS that pay upwards of $10k-$15k per month to use our company, and after a year of working hard and doing my best to make sure every review and every audit and every single customer interaction is the highest quality, I'll be earning less than $90 more per month.
What a slap to the face.
Time to start looking for a new job I guess.
