I saw a post where a person was trying to budget. Makes sense, I'm gonna be in the same situation very soon. I plan on moving by the end of the year.
Their monthly takehome was 1,800. Working full-time. Working FULL TIME should get you where you need to be. It should be less than that, but besides the point..
I saw a comment that inspired this post, Facebook.
“Beans and rice. Bus pass. It'll be rough, but you got this 🤗”
You GOT this? You GOT this? You've got to be actually kidding me.
I'm working full time for just about the same monthly take home. Why should I have to suffer and essentially eat from one food group in order to “get through it”?
Then the other comments.
“I suggest doing a few part times along with it” “Doordash on weekends” “Get a roommate” “Get a better paying job”.
This is.. dystopian.
Thankfully I'm in a region where I only need to make about 2-2.5 times the rent, so I could reasonably find a place that could rent to me for 800-1000 a month, but 3x the rent would be crazy. Why, why do we now have to work 80 hours a week if we simply don't want roommates?
I'm having to consider donating plasma as a first time donor this weekend because my job won't pay enough and I know that.
This shouldn't be the way it is. I just.. ugh. That comment pissed me off. CEOs here eating gold for breakfast and Eerowon for every other meal and we're stuck at the bottom of the pole being told to eat beans and rice and have two other roommates so we keep the lights on.
