Then my “thank you for your dedication” salary increase letter came. 1.9% increase based on market and merit. 1.9%, not even $1/hour after over two decades in my field. The increase was supposedly based on individual performance. It doesn’t make sense. Maybe this is normal, maybe I don’t get it and should be grateful. But I don’t know how to feel anything other than insulted. This is the lowest increase I have ever received in 30 years of employment.
