My company just had a layoff

I am in-between jobs and working as a security guard while I look. The other day my boss called me and asked could I work second shift for a week. All she told me it would be outside in a car. I figured it was construction and I would direct traffic or keep people out. The fateful day came and I was pulled aside to be briefed. There was a layoff and they were afraid some people may strike back. I wasn’t told the number of layoffs. So, I was to get into a company car that said security on the side and drive around the property and stop at every entrance for around 20 minutes to remind people that is security is here. I checked the companies reports and profits were good. The only thing is the stock took a dip of 10% but that is not bad.

The CEO sent out a email that he wanted to make the company more profitable.

After a week, last night during a shift change I was talking to the other security guards and here is what I found out.

There were 183 people got wacked. Most of them were long term people and some department heads. One guy started part time when he was in high school and coming this September he would had been there for 50 years. He asked could they delay it until then and they said no.

In the front foyer that is a big sign that Forbes said this company is the best place to work for. I would love change that sign to say it used to be the best to work for but there are cameras everywhere.
