My company just announced RTO – Here’s how it went

My company (large sized multi billion dollar you know the type) just announced at the end of a company wide meeting that we would be retuning to the office for 2 days a week. They waited until the last part of the meeting to bring it up, made vague claims about how much better it is to work face to face with no actual data to back it up then announced it would be mandatory and our fobs that gain us access to the building will be tracked to make sure we are compliant. Obviously people weren’t too happy and in the meeting is a chat box which went off after they announced it.

People were asking questions and rightfully complaining about us having to do this when we have been working from home with no issues for years now. They didn’t even address a single question and abruptly ended the stream. I took screenshots of the comments and 90% are negative and they have plenty of thumbs up reacts on them and the few positive comments about the change had hardly any reactions.

Not sure what happens next but I know for a fact based off our engagement survey results the only part of the business that was getting positive marks was the flexible working arrangement we no longer have. I’m keen to see the results of the next survey. Also it’s funny how they made this announcement after the last survey closed literally two weeks ago.

Anyway just wanted to rant here because I’m fucking over corporate life and being treated like a drone that can be commanded where to be one day from the next just to make enough money to keep making money. Fuck corporate.
