New Company, being Micromanaged. I want to quit but just took on a new role. What to do?

I've been working at a new company for the last 2 months now, I've had a decent time of it so far but recently my boss has been getting extremely micromanagey with me to the point that I want to quit. I'm brand new to this role, and have been trying to learn it as best as I can but we don't have any documentation or clear guidelines on what we should actually be doing in this role and when asking him what his expectations are on this role they are always changing.

This lead to me not completing a few tasks that were mentioned to me earlier in my onboarding, and my boss wrote an email compiling a list of things that I haven't done and CC'd upper management. He never gave me a warning or to get it together, he just immediately went to the top of the food-chain and called me out in an email.

I've spoken to HR about the situation and they sympathize with me, I complained about a lack of documentation and clarity on what everything the role entails is, and how it wasn't mentioned to me that I needed to do these things. I also had a grandparent pass away recently and that took a toll on my mental health aswell. HR spoke to my Manager and his solution is to essentially micromanage every aspect of my day / week to ensure that I understand the role.

He's also asked me to put together a roadmap / plan for a team that has been working outside of an Agile flow, and these are senior developers that have been at the company for 10+ years. When I mentioned making some changes, they said they'd honestly quit. I went to him with that information, and he said “Figure it out”.

The whole company overall is not doing very well, and the glassdoor reviews were amazing. I think there's been a culture shift with my boss taking over, and the company is kind of shifting into a totalitarian environment where everything and everyone is being monitored. I want to quit since this is affecting my mental health pretty badly, but I don't have another job lined up and I've only been here for a few months. (For example, he's put in an automated bot that tracks meeting attendance, what was said, and how long someone talked in a meeting)

I could quit and go back to my old role, but I really wanted to try out this position and it honestly just feels like staying here would negatively impact my mental health a bunch. Should I take the loss on my Resume and leave? Or stick it out and hope it gets better?
