If SAG-AFTRA and WGA start producing content, they can negotiate better with the networks.

The whole point of the labor movement is that workers create value. The best way to show that to the public and the networks is if writers and actors continue making content- just for themselves. It makes no sense that people passionate about their jobs should sit in the sun and protest a company that doesn't care about them. They have tons of money. They will sit on their asses, wait for everyone to become homeless, and maybe make compromises. Workers deserve to continue without them. Sure, they need tech, distribution, production, etc., but with the combined forces, they can make it happen. Collaborating with other industry unions can make that happen. They have enough creatives that are dying to pitch a script, and at least a few can be good enough to secure a loan to help produce it. They should still hold the picket line, but they're sitting…

They should still hold the picket line, but they're sitting ducks. There are tons of companies trying to break into streaming. Some new services will break with the networks and pick them up, and they can secure a good deal and grow with the new company. The other streamers will go out of business, and there will be a new industry standard. I understand this would be challenging and I don't mean to undermine the important work the unions are doing right now. I'd love to open a dialogue about proactive measures to the strike.
