Hey everybody, long time lurker but avid supporter of this sub — and now a first-time poster looking for help.
As you may know, the Writers Guild of America (along with SAG-AFTRA, the actors' union) has been on strike. Our reasons for striking can be found here and SAG's reasons can be found here.
I'm a Strike Captain at Universal where, since Week 2, the Studio has seemingly made it impossible for us to exercise our first amendment right to protest. First, they blocked our sidewalks for coincidental construction of asbestos removal and sidewalk repair, and then treegate happened just this week.
The Lot Coordinators, along with the WGAW’s legal department, have crafted the below petition and are collecting signatures to demand that NBCUniversal construct a pedestrian lane in front of the studio. This will help members and allies safely practice their first amendment right to picket while giving the public improved access to the sidewalks in a heavily trafficked area.
