Is it worth hiring an attorney for wage theft for my case?

Worked for some contractor that was employed by a major corporation, and they won't send out my paycheck via direct deposit, so I made an explicit request for it to be sent via mail to an address they already have on file, 3 times after the scheduled pay period. They want me to come in person (1hr drive) and return the uniform before I can collect my paycheck. I said I can work something out and return it as soon as they come to my place or to an agreed time and place. I was willing to return it at the expense of gas and time until they decided to hold my paycheck. I filed a wage claim but have a feeling I did not make a compelling case. I wanted to act promptly but didn't have the timestamps of all the days worked because they're not responding and refused…

I filed a wage claim but have a feeling I did not make a compelling case. I wanted to act promptly but didn't have the timestamps of all the days worked because they're not responding and refused to give me them. I reported all of it to the company they work under. I plan on calling the DoL on Monday. Wondering if I could escalate to a lawsuit because they're an extremely shady company and are taking advantage of minimum wage workers (there are other complaints by other workers)
