I am working at a Art academy as a instrumental teacher with schedule from 4 pm to 9:30 pm. During my work hours, I teach either 30 min or 45min for each class. The school pay me for the actual teaching time, which is $16 for an half hour. I should show up 15 min earlier than my actual teaching time without paid and if I have empty slots between classes, which varies from 30 min to 2 hours, I just have to wait for the next student without paid. I have been working as the same role in the other state, this seemed unfair for teachers. For instance, the other school operated it as semester so the schedule and students were consistent for at least 6 months. didn't need to wait more than 30 min and waiting didn't happen too often. I think my current school system only favors and gives freedom to customers but not respecting teacher's time. I am working as a temporary while looking for full-time job for nonprofit sector but I just can't quit for now since I need to earn money and the state I am in doesn't have many opportunities. I am furious… and writing this while waiting two hours for the next 30 min class. Anyone experiencing? Ha.
