AITA for quiting my job one week before my scheduled 12 hour night shifts?
So here it is. I work for a GC as a carpenter/foreman/laborer/learning to be a superintendent. I took a 7 dollar an hour pay cut when I got laid off from my union carpentry position with a different company 2 years ago. And I negotiated hard and got a 4 dollar raise at the beginning of the year.
I told my boss I was thinking of quitting last Friday and he offered my 3 more dollars an hour but I know from my friends in the union that they just got another raise and would still be making between 4 and 7 dollars an hour more than me.
Generally I seem to either do nothing most of the day or when they actually decide they need my carpentry/demo skills I bust my ass all day. Most of the jobs are an hour to two hours away.
For the past month I've been scheduled for 3 weeks of night shifts from 7pm to 7am 4 days a week an hour and a half way from my house. So assuming good traffic through construction zones that's a 15 hour day leaving 1 whole hour for being home with my wife.
The kicker is they need my carpentry skills because they sent the superintendent who is a very good carpenter to a different job and his assistant superintendent/foreman is know wrecking ball and lazy pos in general can't take apart ceilings and put them back together.
Tldr AITA for quiting cause I don't want to work overnight 12s and commute 3 hrs because no one else seemingly can do it?
