I have severe insomnia that occasionally leads to me going without sleep for a day or two. And when I say without sleep I mean not even 20 minutes. No sleep at all. I'm the only closing manager and today happened to be one of those days. The GMIT of the store is out of town, there's no other managers that can be called in because the area leader refused to hire any. Our GM quit 3+ months ago, the replacement quit after 2 weeks without ever showing up to the store. We've been hemorrhaging staff because there's not enough to keep pressure off anyone. The GMIT isn't allowed to hire anyone. I told the area leader I was not coming in today and later explained why he still told me I had to come in. I cannot work an 8+ hour shift and run it on no sleep. I was supposed to work 2pm-11pm. Which realistically at this store becomes 1pm-midnight. The GMIT and I are the only 2 that actually show up and run things and the store falls apart when we aren't there. I can't wait to quit this job. Wish me well for my interviews next week.
