More of a question, plus a concern

So I recently started working at a blood pressure monitor manufacturing company. Its ok, kinda clean, pretty calm, boring with little growth potential though. So question is, while testing the monitors we use our own arm to make sure they function, and we have to keep the results with the paperwork proving it works. I don't feel comfortable having my blood pressure results open to the company and anyone who is around. The company is quite small and it is extremely easy to deduce who is who, especially when my name is signed at the bottom of the paperwork. Anybody else see something wrong with this? I needed a job desperately and took only offer I got, but now I really do not agree with this. Any answers or insight would be great. Needless to say though going back to looking harder again.

Employer trying to make me come in for a non agreed schedule.

First week was training 9a to 5pm cool . Was told we would start the next week for our 3 12 hour shifts. It’s Now been a month of coming in 9a to 5pm and doing nothing ( There waiting for a shipment to come in and some contractors work to be done ). Next week they want us back in for 9am to 5pm again to sit and do nothing. Which I can’t because I have my kids coming which was planned way ahead of time and I figured I would be working my 7pm to 7am shifts by now. I told them I would be coming in next week. Their response “ I dont know what to tell you. Unfortunately we don't know exact day when we will be able to follow the schedule. “ 🤷‍️ They have also now changed the scheduled days and times that were…

Wife Applied For A New Position. Cancelled Job.

My wife applied for a new position at her job. Day 2 of her training come to find out they don’t know why she was there for training, said the job should’ve been cancelled. Day 3 half way through the training they came and told her the position had been cancelled. This position would’ve got her a nice substantial wage increase and better hours. Other employees told her they never heard of that happening. So now she has to go back to her old position and wait to see if something else comes up and bid on these positions. Seems like somewhere some one messed up and they should be helping her find a new position instead of having to wait. She went to her Union about the whole situation. Waiting to see what comes of it. We both been waiting months for her to get into something decent. Just…

Boss is gonna fire me for asking for sick pay

So i work in a Healthcare position and my boss just came back from a 3 week vacation which resulted in me having to work a lot of overtime. However I caught covid in that last week and so I was out for 7 days. I let my boss know and asked him if I get sick pay, to which he first said no, then 20 minutes later texted yeah he can pay me in cash. So I was like okay.. whatever cool. Fast forward to a week after he's back and because I know he's slick I double checked if my sick pay would be cash or check. He gave me this spiel about how he doesn't pay sick pay and how he just paid me for so much overtime. I was pissed. I let him know our state's labor laws about sick pay, which is that for every…

What’s a good way to lie on your resume without being caught?

I guess this is more “anti school” than “anti work” but I basically just wanna be able to get a quiet office job that pays a living wage without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars for two more years of University. Any advice? (I’m in Canada, btw)

Boss offered me to become union delegate

Hello all, there's alot of going on from my end but I will set some context to explain my case As title states the boss has asked me to become a rep, I work outdoors (gardening/funeral company) and I've always voiced my concerns and stood up for my co workers, I argued why can't we get chemical certification (weed killer), first aid certs and other licences such as chain saw certs (I'm from aus) I've always stood up for my co workers, harassment from other supervisors who claimed to file a report to HR against a worker thats been working for 30 years, calming and explaining the situation to both parties conflicted etc etc My question is what are the common problems delegates face? What can I expect? What is it? Anything helps guys! Anything tell me all I need to know, thanks

“additional duties as assigned”

So I'm working a new entry level job which, like many, lists among my list of duties “additional duties as assigned”, so those extra little tasks that no one wants to do can get thrown to the bottom of the ladder where the admins reside for them (me) to do. At this point, my supervisor is assigning me additional duties that pertain to another supervisor's team. By completing these tasks, I would be performing work for another paid position (Admin for the other team) that is not currently filled. Since this is “work being done for another paid position”, what steps can I take to say no to this work, and that the agency needs to fill the position, or to enforce that I should be additionally compensated for the work? Thanks

Salary increase zero sum game

Ok, maybe not zero sum, but definitely feels like two steps forward and one step backward. I recently got a salary increase which is better than nothing, even if inflation reduces it quite a bit. Then I realized, out of the extra $200 per paycheck I’m receiving, I’m paying for a therapist and meds to deal with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. My job exacerbates these issues – not the direct cause of them, but I take the medication so that I can do my job. Anyone else feel like the farther they get into their career, the more expenses they have to deal with the mental and physical health problems caused by their job… which feels like a promotion or salary increase just isn’t doing anything to move them forward? TLDR; work job -> get money -> pay money for health problems caused by job -> repeat
