I work for a company that has both corporate offices and remote workers. When I applied and accepted my position it was posted as a “home based” position. Other positions will list the Address of employment, most often the Comapny HQ. Recently I have been told that the company will be requiring all remote employees to begin in person work in the corporate office. I live ~1.5 hours away from the corporate office and this kind of commute would not be sustainable for me and my home life. Not to mention that I took the job viewing the WFH aspect of it as part of my compensation. I'd like any advice from others who have experienced something similar, and if the relocation of your job is something I'm protected against? Company is HQ in OH and I also live in OH if that matters Thank you

Hi! I have left the toxic workplace over a year ago and I’m recently helping a friend at their company to help with their office morale. I was wondering if anyone could share some ideas of what worked or didn’t work. They are adding higher wages, hybrid flexibility and more pto so I’m looking for fun events/ideas. My old work place used to buy everyone thanksgiving dinner ingredients, sponsor a softball team and coffee cards.
Manager says he’s sorry for my loss
My grandfather passed away in the middle of the night on the fourth of July. For the last two days I have been at work, stepping out whenever I can to coordinate things with my family. My mother is devastated. I told my manager I would need to take an unexpected leave to support my family and attend his services. His response was to tell me how sorry he was and how to please let him know if there was anything he could do to help me, that taking a couple days would be perfectly fine. He assured me that my workload for the next few days would be light to try and reduce stress. He must have neglected to tell anyone to keep my workload light because shortly later, several team leaders approached me and filled my plate with urgent orders for the rest of the week into the…
My manager who I got along with really well just left and now the new department head is my boss for now (the boss one step higher than my boss who left).. This person is an absolute mess and the lack of leadership, direction, and sense of vision for the department is causing me to panic. I know it makes me sound like a simp, but I really do need a manager who knows how to manage. I admire folks who are able to do their job without directions, but I struggle with confidence and like being able to seek advice and input. My new boss is even more disorganized than I am and it makes every task difficult to get done. I'm currently at my limit because she wants me to edit and send a report for a committee that she's the contact for. I'm the contact for another…
Basically they deduct 1 hour pay from each cheque to account for “breaks”. I don’t take breaks, neither do a lot of people I work with, but they do it anyways. On my shift, I am given half an hour of break, but they still deduct the whole hour. Is this a worker rights violation, or can they get away with this assholery?
Amazon at it again…
US Department of Labor finds Amazon failed to provide injured employees proper medical treatment at Castleton, New York, fulfillment facility (Similar citation issued at company facility in New Jersey in 2016) WASHINGTON – An ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has found Amazon failed to provide adequate medical treatment for traumatic and chronic injuries at a fulfillment center in Castleton, New York. OSHA determined that the company failed to ensure injured employees received proper medical care. At least six employees with head injuries and four with back injuries did not receive timely, necessary medical care. Injured workers were returned to their jobs, and, in many cases, their injuries became worse as a result. The agency put Amazon on notice previously about deficient on-site medical practices. OSHA issued a Hazard Alert Letter on this issue in January 2016 after an investigation at a Robbinsville,…
Back in late April I put in a request for time off for the month of August. It was approved. It was a significant trip to Europe because I had a sister getting married, cousin being born, and a ton of other stuff. I told my manager that I’d be gone for the entire month of August in an email, detailing the reason for the long duration. He approved it, let me know that because of the significance I could take more time if I needed, and generally accepted it. More than a month later he comes back and realizes he misread my email and that he has to revoke it. By this point I’ve bought my tickets, planned my stay and committed a whole lot of resources to the trip. I explain this to him, and he says that he understands my frustration but can’t do anything about it.…
Just looking for somebody who has some advice here, as it doesn’t seem right. Just a quick breakdown: 10 hour shifts with a 1 hour lunch. So, 45 working hours a week. I am salary, though. Anyways, pay statement is salary wage for 80 hours every 2 weeks. So that’s 10 hours every 2 weeks that isn’t accounted for. Im not sure if being salary just negates that entirely or if I’m being screwed here… Just some quick math shows that if I was paid for those 5 hours extra every week that I work, that would net me an additional 9 grand a year. Any insight?
Fuck my coworkers
Really don’t like my job or my coworkers in general and have been making steps towards quitting for a few months now. Still have time until I can start my new job but today I said fuck it. They treat me like an outcast and make fun of me constantly, especially when it comes to the fact of me not having a girlfriend. They call me gay and weird and make me feel uncomfortable all the time and today was it. Am off tomorrow and will be putting in my 2 weeks on Monday ️
