It has gotten to the point the way debt works in the U.S is beyond broken; it is killing people and is stopping them from improving themselves. The worst offenders are student loan debt which currently roughly 60 to 100k on average and medical debt which has exploded and is completely out of control. It had gotten to the point, where you can't afford to get anything more than a common cold treated. Worse is the fact people are literally dying because they can't take time off to care for themselves. They have to work until they drop. Even if you have a few million in the bank student and especially medical debt can and in many cases will destroy you. I've seen it happen and no I am not talking about NBA players for example. I am talking about folks who maybe have a million or at most 10…

Corporate America = no emotions
They want busy bees and robots. I had a friend pass away and asked for a remote day to STILL work tomorrow. I was given the run around on how being in office is beneficial to be seen. It sad because it is a job but when it comes to human emotions it “slows down” business. It’s that feeling like asking for time for yourself is a nuisance because it takes away from productivity. Corporate does not care.
As a 24 year old in America, I know my fellow young Americans can feel the shift in perspective for society. Americans are becoming more accepting of socialist/communist politics. Something that deserves notation, considering red scare propaganda and despite the obvious views of boomers (and most of Gen X) who are notoriously anti-communist generations. I’m going to dive in a bit about why that is, Reganomics and red scare propaganda (Rocky 4, Rambo, Red dawn etc.) the capitalist American government made the USSR and communism their scapegoat for anything and everything bad in the world. This was necessary because after communists defeated the nazi regime they were on a hot streak(China revolution, USSR preparing to invade Japan etc.) communism was popping OFF! Who’s most threatened by communism? The ultra rich who exploit the working class! (AMERICA in a nutshell) naturally those in power of the USA started the Cold War.…
IT department is anti-work
New employee needs access to multiple things. Supervisor places request, nothing happens. I’m told to resubmit requests. Each time, they get denied over some sort of ridiculous technicality, “you put the date of start of trouble. Resubmit without a date.” Or “used wrong pathway to request help, use appropriate pathway.” Literally it’s their job to get new employees access to things and it’s so frustrating. I can’t do my job because they want me to know the intricacies of how they resolve issues. Dude, I need access to x, y, and z. You know what that is, just DO IT!
I've recently started a new role that is basically a customer support role. There are no fixed working hours. Most of the work is responding to chat messages (done via an app on my phone) as they are sent. I have to respond asap if it's sent between 08:00 to 20:00, otherwise, I can take my time. At first, they were adamant that any work activity not done via my PC would be unpaid as they could not monitor it through HubStaff. As 99% of my work is done via my mobile, the employer was able to negotiate the agency down to me having to record at least 25 hours of work a week via HubStaff to be paid as though I had worked 40 hours. Unfortunately, there isn't anywhere near enough PC work for me to reach 25 hours a week. If I don't reach 25 hours a day,…
just a funny lil story
so when i was working at my last job (fast food ofc) i (usually) worked the later shift (started around 4 and i would leave usually around 9:30) i’m currently still a minor and in my state i legally cannot work past 10. the day before i got fired i left around 9:30 like normal, but the only other person on the schedule was a PIC (mini manager ig). This PIC was actually one of my dear friends and i felt horrible leaving him there alone as the store was a mess and there was so much to do. my parents were already there to pick me up so i just left. well, my GM saw this on the cams and went nuts on me saying that i should have stayed and helped and that my PIC had to stay there until past midnight. like man, what did you want…
This is not a post bashing on companies, management or employers but I guess I wanted to share something that I realized after joining this sub a couple of weeks back. After reading all the stuff some of you folks go through (specially in the US) which is crazy to think that in 3rd world countries (at least the ones I've lived in) most of the stuff you share is just illegal (reduce payment, firing over sick leave, controlling sick leave, vacation and holidays shenanigan's, fucking around with your severance package, etc.) my perspective on US companies has changed a lot. Used tot think that's how good US companies are but it seems I just have been extremely lucky to land those jobs, no wonder why most folks in the current company I work for, at least from my role upwards in average are in their mid 50s, they don't…
