AI monitoring or manager monitoring or both

My position is a almost 100% on the computer except for some meetings, shadowing, helping others and whatever you decide to write on paper. When submitting my timesheet for the week, a box popped up that I've never seen before saying “You are submitting hours for which you worked and by pressing submit you agree that the company may monitor you during your engagement with the company and may adjust your hours accordingly.” Then of course you cannot submit your hours and get paid until you click I ACCEPT. Also many people do overtime and don't add it to their timesheet because we're not allowed to work overtime. However, our metrics and production are so unrealistic many people have to do overtime to meet production. Will people get a bigger check or will they get in trouble for working OT or will the time only adjust if you you worked…

Creating an application-spamming organization to bog companies.. maybe with AI help

I am right now looking to find a side job for summer (I'm a freelance teacher and I'm extra poor during summer) and I am applying to some random customer care jobs. I adapted the CV by getting rid of any didactic achievement or skill and instead stressing out the fact that I am good at listening to students and their parents, at communicating with them via phone, mail and social, and that I'm pretty good at analysing problematic situations and tactfully suggesting the best course of action. I don't specifcially care about any one of these jobs I'm applying for, they are more or less all the same, and almost all those companies seem cold and careless toward workers, so I am just spamming this general CV with the same minimalist introductory email. I decided to go quantity over quality of presentation. This lead me thinking… it would really…

I wasted 40 hours & $300~ to be scammed into a minimum wage job

I interviewed with a security company and initially it sounded like exactly what I was looking for. 12 hour shifts, flexible schedules, the ability to easily pick up extra shifts if needed. The only downside is it’s about $300 in total and 40 hours to complete the security license training in my country. Fast forward to my first week and I found out the in person training with them that took place in a city hours away a couple weeks ago was unpaid which was a first as I’ve done similar training for other employers (unrelated to the security license just company training to clarify). So I wasted another 40 hours for largely meaningless training that I wouldn’t have attended if they told me it was unpaid. My schedule is three 8 hour shifts and they’re claiming they pay you minimum wage while you’re “training” and there’s absolutely no room…

This sub is 99% whining and it’s leading nowhere

Picture of a questionnable “company policy” in the break room, screenshots from abusing managers, tweets of various celebs & politics posting for clout, “capitalism bad muh”. That's really all there's to it. ” A subreddit for those who want to end work, are curious about ending work, want to get the most out of a work-free life, want more information on anti-work ideas and want personal help with their own jobs/work-related struggles. ” That's the description of this sub. You guys are far from it. Why not use it to give or ask advices, meet like-minded people to maybe build the fundation of projects that might actually help instead of useless clickbait and karma farming ?

“Go above and beyond”

So for most of my life my father told me that if I worked hard and went above and beyond at a company and stayed at that company for 20 years I would be rewarded. Something that I have found to be absolute horseshit. I used to work for a security company back when I was much younger. And this Allied Universal which is the biggest security company. And I was under the impression that if I worked hard I would be rewarded so I was the hardest working motherfucker there. One thing I excelled at was training people. I churned out GREAT security officers. I worked hard in training them, made sure that they were the best guys they could possibly be and I shoved them out into the world. So I worked at this company for a few years doing my best, and then a position opened up…

Is work life in USA office as bad as in the service sector?

Did not mean to offend anyone with this, just genuinely curious. I could not help to notice that majority of the post are from the USA and most of the people telling their stories work ins service sector (stores, bars etc) Im absolutely appalled by the treatment of workers in the states and genuinely sad, however I work in the office environment in the UK and wondering is life in USA office as bad as everywhere else. Im a senior developer in UK for over 16 years. Currently im getting paid 85k per year, this roughly comes out as £4700 in hand per month (6000 USD) for this i work 35 hours per week, emplyeer is not allowed to contact me outside my working hours. 26 days paid holiday + 5-6 national holidays depending on the year.
