Hi, i need advice. I, 30f, was laid off a few months ago and found a new job where I've been at for about a month and a half. The pay is good but the benefits aren't great. I'm not loving the job. I find it kind of boring and slowpaced. I accepted it bc I thought I would be working more in one specific area that i want my career to be in, but it's just not what i thought it'd be. I recently came into some money, and i planned on using part of it as a down-payment for a house or maybe investing it or somenother boring adukt stuff. However, im thinking i should just quit my job and focus on looking for something I'd like more, and that way, i can also enjoy my summer. I can focus on me and my health too. Im scared,…

There’s a lot of shady shit that his company does and they also don’t have an HR, the manager is basically the HR since they don’t have one. They also make it hard to get your paystubs and you’ll have to do so much just to get them.
And just making me not want to even go at all. But I really need a full time job and TECHNICALLY this would be a great job for me. It's only a 20 min walk from my house and it pays £23,400 which is more than I've ever made before. I would be working for an gas/electric provider company. The role is “field support specialist”. I'm not 100% sure but I think it involves data entry & answering customer calls. I'm already stressed enough cause I've never had a job like this where you actually have to KNOW a lot. And I don't know anything about energy or data and don't feel like I'm very good with numbers, but they did say I'd get trained. I had a phone call with someone yesterday and they said I needed to come in tomorrow for a group thing + an interview. Idk…
Title. I really do not understand it. We’ve had a MASSIVE technological boom, the likes of which we could not have possibly imagined 100, 50, hell even 20 years ago. We can automate damn near every process necessary for human survival. We can automate damn near every process necessary for happy, fulfilling lives for all people. We can provide food, clean drinking water, and happily livable shelter to all people on the planet. And yet we live under the constant threat of homelessness or death under capitalism. Why the fuck are the working class not uniting and revolting in the streets right now?
It's such a load of bullshit. My company has the same policy that quite a few large ones have. Unless you're using PTO, you must work the shift before and the shift after to qualify for holiday pay. Our company has Juneteenth as a paid holiday. Well, last Thursday, June 15th, we get informed last minute that Saturday is now “mandatory overtime” for everyone. Fuck anyone who had already made plans for a three day weekend (and let's not forget it was also Father's Day the 18th in the US). Myself and many others no longer have any PTO for the year. Our PTO is divided between vacation time and personal time. Most of us schedule the majority of our vacation time at the beginning of the year, and even some of us who save a few days to use last minute, were still screwed….because the company does not allow…

It says something about the state of the world we live in that this story didn't surprise me in the slightest. I've worked in a call centre in the past (among many other shit jobs), and they'd probably have done the same thing. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/call-centre-forces-staff-to-work-in-office-with-body-of-colleague-who-died-of-a-heart-attack/ar-AA1cNK6r?ocid=winpstoreapp&cvid=822338eebc5541a6b8acac4906f42170&ei=18
