So my phone rings and it's an unknown number. I'm bored so I decided to annoy who ever was on the other end. As soon as I say hello I get an angry guy going “Where are you?” I said “Excuse me?” He came back with “Where are you? You were scheduled to open today.” I said “I was? First I've heard of it.” He goes on about how he thought I could be trusted Yada Yada Yada. I finally interrupted him with “Do you know who you're talking to buddy?” He responds with some crap about him being the boss and I better watch how I'm talking to him. I pissed him off some more and finally tell him to fuck off I quit. He gets all spun up and I insult him a couple of more times before hanging up. Laughed my ass off…. there's some poor sucker…

I’m near my breaking point.
I’ll try to start from the beginning. I noticed that one of the managers was having difficulty keeping up with some of the work required of her, so I asked our manager (the one above both of us) if I can take up some of the workload since I have experience. In less than a week, I got a pay raise and now have an additional sets of tasks with a meeting I’m required to attend once a week. I end up finishing the work on time, and I fall behind on some of my original tasks, but that’s to be expected, given the extra work load. She notices this, and thinks that I should be performing the same despite experienced team members leaving and having to pick up more of the shared work that would’ve been completed between me and my other team members. When the position opens up…
So a lot has happened at my job all at once and now I have a long weekend to kinda catch up/mentally cover. I work at a law firm and my boss is usually pretty great in that she complains that no one works as much as she does, but then showers us with gifts and bonuses. My team and I have figured that it's just how she shows affection/gratitude, which tbh is a pretty great way to show affection/gratitude. I work as a “legal writer” where I basically write demand letters, make PowerPoints for mediation and trial, make brochures that go along with the letters and PowerPoints, and a lot of other stuff the attorneys and paralegals don't wanna do. My boss is like an aggressive Leslie Know in that she wants everything we do to be extremely thorough and detailed. It's a great job for people in law…
Vacation is now a benefit?
A lot of USA Ground Transporation companies outsource their work to Balkan countries because we are cheap workforce (Serbia in this case). Here they offer a full-time 3rd shift (Serbian 3rd shift is usually afternoon in the USA – depends on the time zone), hourly pay from $5-7 and vacation as a benefit? https://preview.redd.it/5bwj7lpb2a2b1.png?width=1158&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=64d7a55f2ef13b188f4da62336af0075b1ea1c20
I’ve long contemplated the morals behind universal healthcare, and always leaned more to the side of “why is it my responsibility to pay for your healthcare”. When in reality it wasn’t me who was responsible for paying for less well-off people’s healthcare. It was the people who earn way more than their fair share of our minimal resources. I wouldn’t be giving anything up. The people above me and above them would. When in reality being given access and equal footing with the finite number of healthcare providers is just saying “I’ll give you just enough so you won’t suffer illnesses and injury too bad, but literally no more”. It’s really not even saying more than we deserve. It’s not like we’ll all start going to the hospital for weeks on end, but just use what we need when we need it. And then there’s the argument that quality of…
Let me preface this by letting you know I'm the closing manager at a huge liquor store. So the general manager(GM) was sitting upstairs in the office (and had been for almost an hour at that point) and we had a line out the ass, multiple carry outs with people with cases of liquor, and people didn't have anywhere to park, and car alarms were going off. Then a lady that has a HUGE order comes in and gets two hand trucks full so my cashier calls for GM. He pokes his head out the door and yells back “don't bother me for 45 minutes I'm busy”. Then after like ten minutes he came down and I called him to carry out a case of alcohol for someone else that requested it and he did it. Then when we finally died down he pulled the same cashier to the side…
Of course once again I'd be put into a crappy place. The only place that would hire me is a nursing home, as housekeeping/laundry. I've already gotten physically sick at work a handful of times, once puking at work and had to leave early. The ammount of times I come home sick and with a headache because the place is too hot is ridiculous. I tried to see if maybe they could at least get a fan in the break room. Nope. I was told to just drink more water and have a wet washcloth on my neck. Which I can't do while cleaning. Yes, I told my supervisor I was getting nauseous. She said she couldn't do anything. I am not looking forward to when it starts to get really hot because I have a feeling I'm going to end up getting so sick I need medical attention. I…
I think about this because I've seen people post about how their relief shift never showed and they couldn't work a double. I personally know someone who had to leave their shift before someone else arrived and they left a gas station unattended and obviously stuff got stolen. Legally can they charge you for it. Has anyone ever actually done it. I know personally I'm not covering for someone not being there.
