Hello I hope this is ok to ask here. I’m studying horticulture and I have a job at a nursery to work in the field for some experience. Currently I’ve been there two years and am the longest standing employee. The turn over rate is very high to say the least because the pay is horrible for the amount of work and knowledge required for the position. Because of this I do side jobs and have had many in the two years i’ve worked there. One of these side jobs is social media management. I saw a flyer for a random company needing one so I thought I’d give it a try and it was pretty easy. An acquaintance of mine learned I was doing social media management and asked if she could hire me as well for her business. She does plant maintenance for houseplants on a small scale,…

$1 Hourly Bonus
For background, I work at an emergency homeless shelter; manager just sent this out to all staff (not only the overnight staff) to ask for help with emergency shelter coverage…. how can I resist this bribe??? AMAZING, now that I know I get an extra $1 an hour, I change my mind- I’m now THRILLED to work a last minute, 12-hour overnight shift at an emergency shelter !!! I would love to work an extra shift this week for an extra $12! ……. I really cannot believe they think this is enough compensation for the amount of work, risk, and responsibility it takes to run a homeless shelter in a city with one of the highest crime rates in the country. Let alone an extra shift that is outside of your normal hours. Sigh.
Just like that I got a job as a trainer.
Just submitted request for 23 days pay
Working in Japan. There is a ton of wage theft here (employees working unpaid hours.) I submitted my one month notice. My employer returned the token of kindness by moving me to part time and taking my health insurance. Then they told me I only had one week left of work, because now that Im part time they can fire me without notice. So now the department of labour got me to ask them for the 23 days of labour I lost by being fired before my contract expired. Wish me luck ps. Arbitration of Disputes contract
I'm currently thinking about taking a job and as a part of the online onboarding process they want me to agree to a mutual dispute resolution agreement. It says basically I'd have to go through the arbitration process with a company called the American Arbitration Association who I can only assume has a contract with the company I'm looking to work with. It's a very very part time position essentially putting up and maintaining television displays, graphics, and other things at stores and the like for a couple of bucks over my states minimum wage. Is it worth signing this thing? The answers I got from Google seemed kind of lukewarm both ways so I figured I would ask directly. They also want photos of my drivers license and social security card for the I9 paperwork which I guess but it feels sketchy. Any advice would be very appreciated, thank…

Stop calling me in on my days off
I hate how I'm expected to come in whenever my bosses need someone to cover or they just got confirmed for extra hours in the middle of the week. Like my time isn't valuable because I'm not on the schedule ? If I'm playing video games, watching anime or walking my dog, then that's part of my day and it shouldn't be my personal responsibility to come in on my day off for your sake. If we ever make it country wide in the U.S. to ban employers from contacting employees when they're clocked out, I'm turning into a fucking rat.
I love school, always have. Special interest in math and science. I wish i was privileged enough to become a physician or maybe an anatomy or some type of stem professor. I’ve had to take two semesters off university now to focus on making money and I miss it. Just wonder what you all wished you could work doing instead?
Need advice! How should I quit?
I live in canada. I work as a barista. I want to send my boss a text saying “please accept this as my official resignation” or something along those lines. I get my pay checks at the end of the month, so basically soon. Can they withhold my final paycheck from me if I quit this way? Can they sue me for not giving two weeks notice? Shitty management is the reason and recently I had my final straw I can’t take it anymore, advice would be greatly appreciated
