Hey all, So I work on a team within a firm. We officially operate by a corporate employee handbook. However, I’m on a specific team that’s one of the top producing teams in the company and therefore comes along with stricter rules than what corporate has laid out. It’s a team of 10 and to keep it simple and anon we all have designated tasks. Some of us have interchangeable tasks that another team member knows how to do. For example 2 people for accounting, 2 people for forward facing sales, 2 people for ops , etc. Someone has already requested my days off for September (I’m looking to take off Wednesday – following Monday) and he’s taken off Thurs & Fri. We both do the same daily tasks and therefore us both being gone may warrant the account manager to “deny” my request citing we can’t both be gone.…
NA LCS E-Sports walkout incoming
Even if these LCS players aren't a “union” the unified voice to Riot's BS is amazing. They are flexing really hard that even non-pro qualified players are flipping the bird to Riot and won't take scab spots. This walkout is a bit historic because it's the first case of a major e-sports league (to my knowledge) showing effective unionized efforts. https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/13v56u4/lcspa_releases_statement_on_scab_players_asks/
My boss cut my salary in half.
I can’t wait to be out of this situation. I feel forced to stay because I need the health insurance coverage and have already paid thousands out of pocket to satisfy the high-deductible insurance plan and to get coverage for specialty medications. My boss runs their own small firm. Small team. My boss is HR, judge, jury, and executioner. I work directly under my boss in an environment and work relationship that would make the writers of The Devil Wears Prada cry. My boss invited my coworkers to go home early on the day of my performance review (which was at 3:30pm), unbeknownst to me, and they all awkwardly left, albeit failing to make it look casual. Unbothered by it yet curious, I texted a coworker, “Did [boss] tell you to leave early today?” and never got a response. I still don’t know if they were pre-warned on what was…
I’m getting a job because I’m so bored
Lately I’ve been doing nothing all day but I’ve also really really been wanting to see my friends in china. So I’m just gonna start saving up for a long stay over there to forget about American problems lol. But yeah. Most my day consists of me doing nothing and just scrolling on TikTok all day. Sometimes I plant native plant seeds to make my mountain prettier. Yay.
Jobs have been disappearing for over 2 decades. https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-labor-force-participation-rate.htm I'm not complaining about no work, I'm worried about being homeless and starving as the only current way to survive is to have a job.
a text my coworker got from our boss
The HWA went into effect in July of 2022. It includes part time employees, even if the parent company is located outside of New Mexico. I put in an application for a state job today, and am crossing my fingers. But either way, my employer is getting reported to the state for violating the HWA first thing tomorrow.
