Requesting time off for September 23’ – Need rebuttal talking points for potential denial of request.

Hey all, So I work on a team within a firm. We officially operate by a corporate employee handbook. However, I’m on a specific team that’s one of the top producing teams in the company and therefore comes along with stricter rules than what corporate has laid out. It’s a team of 10 and to keep it simple and anon we all have designated tasks. Some of us have interchangeable tasks that another team member knows how to do. For example 2 people for accounting, 2 people for forward facing sales, 2 people for ops , etc. Someone has already requested my days off for September (I’m looking to take off Wednesday – following Monday) and he’s taken off Thurs & Fri. We both do the same daily tasks and therefore us both being gone may warrant the account manager to “deny” my request citing we can’t both be gone.…

Hey all,

So I work on a team within a firm.

We both do the same daily tasks and therefore us both being gone may warrant the account manager to “deny” my request citing we can’t both be gone. Keeping in mind the account manager and account lead both can do all of the jobs but are focused on let’s say growth and executive tasks primarily during the day.

As far as corporate is concerned as long as I have the hours I’m good to go, but there’s a grey area in the handbook that says basically “team discretion” leaving it ultimately up to the account manager.

Its 4 months in advance and I’m not asking. I’m not sure if he will deny my request as I’m going to submit it tomorrow AM, but if he does what are somethings I can say or do to refute the potential denial? INFO: I have the PTO hours necessary and it’s an office job 8-5.
