I’m on an unpaid leave of absence because I got sick and needed to strengthen the fine motor skills in my arm. Nuff said. I have the Harry Potter movies on as background, and I’m thinking: Crap! This is just like what is happening to us now! (Especially “The Order of the Phoenix”: raise your hand if you have a Dolores Umbridge for a boss). Right now, people are desperate, only looking to support themselves and/or their families, while their health is slowly destroyed, and their hope needlessly chipped away. Some have committed suicide; others have been falsely accused and imprisoned, and all of us live with the FEAR. That’s the worst part, isn’t it, the fear that never seems to go away, or let us enjoy our lives. Our malicious employers seem to say that “there is no good and evil, there is only power and those too weak…
She had been at a company since graduation, and for over 10 years, her manager became more and more abusive, to the point where my sister would call my mom and I crying most nights. The manager was so bad that the week of my sister getting in a car crash, she was still sending her work and deadlines even though she could barely walk or function and had the time off. A year ago she was hired at a new job and as soon as she put in notice, the manager and other department heads started to offer her more money and a better position, but she declined due to her mental health. As soon as she left, some of her old colleagues kept calling her saying that the manager was always bad mouthing her, belittling her new job and laughing at the fact that she left such a…
I worked at this company for nearly 5 years. To put things in perspective, they focus really hard on company culture and work/life balance (or so they say). I started out as a dispatcher and worked my way to an opportunity with the technical department as customer support. I had no technical background so wanted to learn as much as possible. At a certain point I asked if I could get some “on the road” experience. This meant they had to give me a car. I did say from the beginning that I was not planning on doing this permanently as I just wanted to help out a bit and learn from the experience. We agreed on doing it 2-3 days a week and revert to support on the other days. The time went by and I was being sent out more and more. Getting less support days and going…
My current work is saying I need to give 1 weeks notice per year I worked there. In my case 5 years = 5 weeks. Feels like too long, ideally would be hoping to give 2 weeks notice. I am worried that if I don’t meet their terms I won’t be able to be paid out my leave that I have accrued. They haven’t told me otherwise, but I am curious if I have any right to that money or is it just a nicety on their end to pay it out to leaving employees?
RANT TIME!!!!! I started a new job as engineer, I had three offers to choose from. One offer was 6figure but needed a lot of traveling around the country. I went with the design role at this company for less than 6figure believing that I won't be too stressed out and I prefer to be a design type engineer with 3D CAD. First week I saw my colleague get his ass grilled for something in front of everyone, boss tells him he will fire him. Over two weeks I start getting grilled for little mistakes I do. Mind you this has only been 2 weeks at the place. My boss likes to micromanage by rocking up 3 times a day at our desk to see how far we are progressing. Once my boss rocked up at 9:30am, 10am and 11am at my desk and asked me how far I am…
What does how other companies do their business have to do with the ability to recalculate salaries or perform any layoffs? What happened torecord profits? Are the shareholders colluding with each other or something?
Guys, I think something is forgotten
Am I being a bitch?
For context I am basically a delivery driver the delivers furniture to customer’s homes everyday in California. I have a manager but we mainly report to our lead whose de facto manager. My lead has harassed me about work issues while I’m off the clock more than once, touches me while we’re talking at times which I’m not okay with, nothing sexual seeming really, pat on the back or should or arm tap but I am not okay with him touching me still, and lied directly to my face about policy regarding handling customer furniture that’s already in the home that could get me in big trouble if I broke it as well as following me excessively on my assigned routes. This gives me red flags and makes me feel like I’m truly being harassed and I’ve made this clear to HR and it seems like nothing is being done and I’m afraid…
Which Job?
Currently I’m paid 75k to work on large building and infrastructure projects, but get worked hard with OT. Job is super interesting and involves some coding and automation which is interesting and enjoyable to do. I get to work remotely everyday as well. I’ve been offered a job for the same pay, doing the same thing but on much smaller less interesting projects. I won’t be required to work OT. I won’t get to utilise the coding and automation as much, and I have to go into the office everyday. This position in initially asked if I would consider a pay cut. For context both companies are identical in size, have offices in multiple countries. Which would you choose and why?
