Apparently my boss threaten to fire me to give me more work to do

So after getting my poor evaluation because I do the jobs of four people. HR decided to update my job description and now made it even longer. So, now I am doing the job of five people and have to help HR out with taska while also doing my own marketing work on top of it. I have been applying to jobs because I am just so emotionally and mentally done with this job. I also have been printing out emails and things like that tp defend myself because I do not trust this company at all. One woman went to speak to HR about her pay and she ended up getting fired immediately. Now, she is not allowed on the building grounds at all. They gave me a correction notice and 30 days to fix the “cracks” but then they keep inviting me to all of these events as…

Is there tension between the goals of anti-work and the goals second wave feminism?

Let me unpack. Many of the posts in anti-work are about a time where one male breadwinner was able to provide for their whole family, often without a college degree. Part of the reason these systems worked was because companies didn’t expect both men and women to be in the workplace. They expected one person to work, and so wages were commensurate to a time when there was a significantly tighter labor force. One of the many goals of second wave feminism was to bring more women into the workforce, and for equality of opportunity to work. Well that is a windfall for corporations because all of a sudden you’re doubling the labor force, which keeps wages down. There is good evidence that despite a huge increase in productivity in the 1980s and 1990s, wages didn’t rise in large part because there were so many more workers entering the workforce.…

Terrible team leader, Arizona area

So our team lead comes out of the office and starts calling one of the new employees stupid because she doesn't know the product yet. I said relax, she's new and she's still learning. He tells me to worry about myself(terrible thought process for a team leader). So we go to pull an order and as we are doing so he asks me a question about the product and I respond and call him stupid for asking(giving him a taste of his own medicine). He didn't like me calling him stupid and said he won't tell me again to not talk to him like that and I wouldn't like what happens if I do it again(sounded very physical threatening at the time). And I just told him to stop calling people names and dodging the blame for things that are his fault(he hit a garage door and blamed a guy…

My husband was “hired” by Young Drivers, but it sounds more like a scam

My husband (38M) has been fastidiously looking for work for this past year. He has very little education but a lot of work experience, though mainly in an industry he can no longer work in since we moved. He wanted a part time job at box store or something, but despite having retail experience he could not get one to save his life. Out of around 200 jobs he's applied to, he was only contacted by scams. He has driving experience and the couple jobs that called him back were things that required he use his own car with little or no reimbursment, expected him to be on call 24/7 but only guarenteed 8 hours a week, drug testing, didn't have any benefits, paid minimum wage, etc. Finally he gets a call from YD, who previously interviewed him but didn't hire him, then 8 months later called to offer him…

UBI framework bill in Canada

Hey Canadians, there’s a framework bill (just outlines the pros and cons of a UBI and breaks down the budget for this) for Universal Basic Income for all Canadians. It has a base $500 (for all) and is afterwards variable based on income. The finances/taxation to achieve this are pretty sound in-fact it’ll actually stimulate and improve the economy – without taxing your average Canadian. If this frame work bill passes and displays value to the Senate of Canada we can see greater change. You can find the link here: https://www.ubiworks.ca/guaranteed-livable-basic-income To petition to your local MP through this link would be absolutely invaluable to the interest of all Canadians. Thank you.

“You need to get yourself better for tomorrow.”

I work in a kitchen and you're not supposed to work with food for 48 hours after having symptoms of diarrhoea or being sick (at least in the UK). I called in this morning to say I had thrown up and couldn't come to work in 4 hours. I was told I need to get myself better for my shift tomorrow. Regardless of the 48 hour thing, who says that to someone who tells you they are sick?
