My employer just forced us to take PTO.
And they’re going to do it again. They had a “shutdown” where there was a week where only the employees had to take PTO for the whole week. A few employees could work, but only a day or 2. (temporary workers could still work) They’re planning on doing it again in June. I’m pretty sure they’re going to have another massive layoff. They even told us the point was to get everyone to use PTO. Lots of folks went into the negatives. But the company told them not to worry about it, that they weren’t going to charge them for it. Of course, this was after they told us they were done with the layoffs. But, we’ve heard that before. They also have been hiring more temporary workers. I’m mostly scared because they had pretty good insurance, benefits, and a work schedule. Idk if I’ll be able to find a…
I get called in for work at least 1-2 times a week by my coworkers. Yesterday I got a text on my day off asking what I was doing today, I assumed they we're asking about a shift cover so I just stated “If this is what I think it's about, I'm already working in the morning.” Then I got a text later that day from another person asking if I would come in that night to work a 5HR shift, and I just ignored that one. Why do people think we Eat, Sleep, and Breathe work 24/7. It's absolutely ridiculous, and wouldn't be worth it anyways when we make $13/HR or Less. Fuck corporations, and Fuck capitalism man.
capitalism works if profits are shared
That's it. That's the headline. If greedy corporarions and CEOs invested their money into their workers our economy would boom, people would start families, life would be happier. But then of course our poor poor overlords couldn't enjoy a steak dinner on a billion dollar boat. What was I thinking?
Here’s your $6.89 paycheck
Without going into a ton of detail. I've taken some time off work lately, FMLA. Which my company has been trying to dictate how many days and when I can return. I worked one day in a pay period two pay periods ago which they initially refused to pay me for. Then they claimed that I only worked a half day when I worked a full day. Round and round about that as well. So, two pay periods later I get paid for that one day of work and the total that I received was 6.89 after taxes and apparently insurance despite me requesting them not to as I am also covered by another provider.
Curious if anyone knows if any state mandates pay for student teachers during their teaching semester
Anyone else in a poverty state of mind?
I just started a new job a few weeks ago. Pay is nice. I went out to lunch with the tech department a few times, now there’s like a crew of 3 who goes out to lunch now and doesn’t invite me to come now. It’s just weird too me. I didn’t come here to make friends, but I do take it a little personal. They went out to get wings just now and I’m at the office right now by myself. I think I find it weird if anything. Not really sad. Maybe they’ve had this crew of 3 for awhile they don’t want to disrupt.
Employer blocking access to timecard.
My employer was making a big deal about time theft, and how dastardly, and evil it is, and it got me wondering. For the past month or so they have locked the front door such that keycards do not work, forcing people to either show up very early to knock on the door in hopes of being let in on time, or being unable to clock in on time, thus costing people minutes and losing money. That feels more like time theft than looking down at your phone every once in a while to mess with Spotify. Is that legal in California?
