I've been working 2 jobs since I was 15 (now 25). I've been working 7 days a week for almost 2 years with maybe 1 day off a month to go do something, never to relax. Yesterday, I decided to just quit one. It wasn't paying me enough, I could make more money serving. (the other job). I just wanted to share the good news!

A recent article on Barrons, is recommending retirees work side jobs to help keep their investment portfolio from dwindling. It has a nice ring, but I can't help but believe it's a reverse tactic to get more people working again Consider the case of a retiree socked with unexpectedly high costs in inflationary times. What happens if, instead of withdrawing more cash to meet higher living expenses, he or she returns to work, consulting 5 hours a week at $50 an hour https://www.barrons.com/articles/retirement-income-spending-reverse-4-percent-rule-77f60be3

Today I started to work as usual. 9 to 5 stuff. About 11 AM weather started to changing from sunshine to cloudy then raining. Very delicate small drop raining which, one would love to feel in nature and wilderness. Imagine cozy log fire under the trees with a mellowy music of drops on leaves but instead I had to be behind the goddamn desk and do whatever my modern-day slave-master orders me to do. What the heck, I cannot even enjoy the simplest of things…
I haaate hybrid working
What is the point of it? Seriously, hybrid working sucks and is the least social work environment I’ve ever experienced, so it’s definitely not about “company culture.” You’ll have a meeting organised with people who are physically in the same building as you but they decide to log on to it from their desk upstairs. No one knows how to make small talk anymore. People sit in silence over their lunch in the canteen, or they eat in their car, or they go out somewhere on their own. I don’t blame anyone for doing any of these things because I actually hate what hybrid working has done to office life, I have to show up and feel isolated twice a week because big business needs to justify rent on their buildings, lol.
I have this friend who is part of the recruiting process for a company. He’s kinda transphobe (and the execs have this bro culture). I tried convincing him “well if one of your workers is trans and you treat em like that, you might get into HR or legal trouble.” He said, giggling “well I just wouldn’t recruit people that are likely to get me into trouble” I said, “but that would lose an economic opportunity. What if there are really productive trans workers?” He said he’s still not gonna change his ways, even if it makes him more money. Like wtf this is just stupid. It ain’t even about corporate greed, just some sense of keeping on the bro culture
Hello, I'm in Texas. I'm having an issue with missed wages. My employer requires us to work 72 hours/2 weeks. If 72 hours are not worked, our PTO must be taken to reach the 72 hour mark. This rule includes if a clock in or clock out was missed, for whatever reason. In my situation, I missed a clock out, and did not see it on my time card until the paycheck for the week had been issued. I noticed that 10.8 hours of my PTO was taken to make me up to the 72 hour mark, because it appears like I missed a shift without the clock out stamp. The timekeepers for my employer are refusing to return the PTO. I am wondering how this can be legal. I asked to see a written policy on this, and they have failed to produce anything. They say we are responsible…
Currently working in utilization review and reported some problems to management regarding employee concerns. I am currently in a position where I act as a resource or advisor for other reviewers. They often express discontent and I attempt to console them and smooth things over. Recently I was told that my internal audits would be provided with my name and audit details to the person and this would directly effect their bonus. I expressed my concern that this would cause internal discontent and a poor company culture. I was demoted. I have consistently been their highest producer recently and have received multiple awards for it. I consistently receive greater than the maximum quarterly bonus for hitting my numbers, yet was told that they would be taking away my responsibilities and giving me additional time to watch company training videos so that I could be more comfortable having tough conversations with…
