Using a workplace scheduling app called 7Shifts and this is one of the three options for reason given when changing availability. As if I can't just want to have my own life outside of working. The other two options in the drop down menu are “school” and “other job”.

I’m not a trading card
I read a post where someone was denied pto requested 6 mo in advance. Only gets 5 days pto a year working full time. What? We should never have to accept those types of roles. Things we can normalize. Europe has it so it’s not unworkable or unimaginable. What will it take to bring that here? – vacation. 4-6 should be standard. – fte roles. Companies like Walmart having 36 hr pt roles instead of fte is sooo wrong. Esp when those folks end up working multiple jobs and still can’t make ends meet. – affordable. health insurance that’s not tied to an employees. a high deductible plans exist bc insurance companies lobbied Congress for it. It’s soo messed up. Also anytime you switch jobs deductible starts over. It’s wayyy too expensive. – companies that keep employees for years maybe their whole lifetime like it was for current boomer generation.…

Without the USA?
Does anyone think that a new Antiwork sub, exactly the same as this, just excluding Americans would be more helpful to those of us who live outside of it? Nothing against the American people but their rules and laws are so different to the rest of the world, it's difficult to keep track of what is real or not.
“Having a job is a benefit” What a joke.
To Amazon drivers out there..
I've noticed recently that it seems Amazon drivers are sometimes not ringing the doorbell and when they do they literally run to their van immediately after. I can only imagine this is because you have an inordinate amount of deliveries to make in such tight time windows and it's just sad to see that people are being asked to sacrifice mental wellbeing to run around like mad, not have time to actually take pride or enjoy your work because your company doesn't take pride in you. Making you burnout quickly, delivering cheap shit for old billy billionaire and his major shareholder bumchums. You could also apply this to most corporate jobs but this one's for you Amazon drivers. Hope things get better!
My career is in food safety and I started at a new place 7 months ago. I work in the lab and handle food safety and quality assurance for a food producer. I am overqualified for what I currently do and run circles around most my coworkers. I also have more experience and credentials than my coworkers. When I got hired I wad sold a big story about how there is always promotion and room for advancement. I only took the job because they offered me a good wage. I have been putting in extra effort since I got hired to learn as much as I can and fill in/ help out whenever needed. The lead position opened up internally this past Friday and I applied promptly. It has now been almost a week and I have not heard a peep from my manager about this. I know she had…
Love this sub and maybe it’s because of the differing employment laws and attitudes in Europe but there does seem a few stereotypical ’entitled’ people. Of course the vast majority of posts are just bully managers and penny pinching small businesses but some are just being awkward. Any time any on here have actually agreed with the other side?
TLDR: How do I decline a reco to a toxic workplace that I was just illegally let go from without making me or the employer look bad? WHOLE STORY: A former colleague who I like (let's call her Mildred) triangulated an intro on LinkedIn. Mildred msgd me with a colleague of hers (let's call them Richard) on cc. Mildred intro'd Richard and said that he just applied to a job at my former employer. Said employer filed bankruptcy while I was on an approved medical leave of absence and then terminated my employment. It was an abusive and toxic place way before I got there, all during my time there, and obviously while I've been away. But they're hiring a ton right now since people left in droves or were laid off. This is the 2nd person to HMU for a referral. I want to maintain a warm relationship with…
