It’s 5am where I’m at and I can’t sleep. I’ve received some shitty news at work that’s been eating at me all day. All month, really, but mostly all day. My boss walked off a job site and got a medical certificate for 2.5 months. Very small team, basically left me in the dark, no phone call, no handover, nothing. I’m basically the most junior person there in terms of pay and position. I know a decent amount I’ve been there two years. I stepped up and took charge and got shit done anyway. All of the big bosses at head office knew it. Knew that I was expecting career advancement even before this, not to mention during/after this surprise situation I was put in. I meet the ceo of the company, tell him what I’ve been doing, what I’d like to do moving forward, etc. A month later I…

They just look for new workers and don't reflect on past events (people quitting, or people being fired). They hang out at r/prowork subreddit and complain about the workers not working hard enough and expecting hand-outs. They hang out at country clubs or yacht clubs and share stories about how they treated their workers and laugh about it while enjoying themselves. Even though I'm ex-Navy, I never managed with a chain-of-command style similar to the corporate structure. I managed like we were all equals, I just happened to have more experience and salary, but trained and taught those I managed so one day if I got promoted, one of them would be able to take over my position. If not, they would be able to leave and find a job that paid them what they were worth. If they got their job for the day done, I didn't care what…
I took yesterday and today off because I have a stiff neck and upper back with a migraine. I applied for the PTO through our website as instructed and set an out of office message. She just text me asking how I am but I know that's her intro to ask about work because she's done it before. Do I have to answer her? I want to ignore her but my anxiety about it isn't allowing me to relax and I need to f'ing relax to get better. Thoughts? For context – I don't have a time sensitive projects that can't wait a few days or work in emergency situations
Aha now I get a response
Rant. FYI: I was not fired the contract expired and I could not continue working for them. Anyway They have dismissed me without comment, and have he politely asked for my job reference (via Email I habe proof) because I need it for my application documents, which was on 06.04 so before the Easter holidays! This was ignored and since they have also dismissed me without comment, I was pissed. But I thought I give them another chance, and get in touch by phone. Reached of course only my former work colleague bruh. I have clearly expressed that I want a REPLY! Have not done so, then my father-in-law gave me a sample letter (he is a lawyer). And now after this spicy lawyer text email, this bitch has the nerve to contact me and claim that she only had one business day. I can hardly put my fucking anger…
You know a company is self aware about how scummy they are when they're actively pumping out anti strike propaganda. They're even offering £100 in gift vouchers if you enter their competition by answering questions at the end of each document. It's easy to prevent striking. Pay people more, treat people better. It's THAT easy.
(I work in marketing, so this was a marketing goal). I read this and interpret it as me hitting $150k in profit before the end of Q1. I did this by mid-February. I called my boss on it. He said “no, what I meant is you have to hit $150k in one month.” So then I did that. I hit roughly $155k in February and then roughly $185k in March. I smashed the goal. I had a meeting with my boss on the calendar in early April to review Q1. He rescheduled it 3 times, basically punting it down the road. We finally had the meeting yesterday. He tried telling me I didn’t hit any goals in Q1. I said “yes, I did and there was a $2,500 bonus attached to it.” He acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about. He put on a big show of…
The new one I thought would be an awesome job. Remote, more pay, nice people so I thought. They lied to me in the interview. I am a System Admin. I do not do developer code. I don't have a clue about programming other than PowerShell. At this point in my career, I won't either. I don't have the mindset to sit there and program. I do Windows Servers, VMWARE, Enterprise SAN networks and storage, replication, Cisco UCS, etc. First day in, no NEO (new employee orientation). They just sent you training to do and paperwork to fill out. Next day, I finished the training, and got on the phone with the engineer that would be showing me the training. He gave me a crash course basically what I'd be doing. Basically, its a sh*t show. They fired everyone back in 2016, then figured out they screwed up, the company…
Denied PTO for NOVEMBER
I put in a request to take one single day off in early November of this year (six months away…) so I can go to a concert with my fiance. It was promptly denied because two entire months (November and December) are 'blackout' and NO ONE is granted time off. I work in retail full time, I get it, but its not like I'm trying to take a week long vacation in mid December! It's literally ONE day in the first week of November. Ridiculous. I guess I'll be calling in 'sick' that day. 🤷️ Fuck the idea that work is more important than the entire rest of the human experience.
