I don’t know how much longer I can do this

Today is my first day being back in the office for… no reason. And it's almost unbearable. I'm autistic and have really bad sensory processing issues. Being at home over the holidays was so good for me, it felt like my nervous system actually calmed down. And now today I feel like I've been electrocuted or something. The office is unbearable, everyone talks all day, one particular person types SO LOUD, the lights are too bright and the heating is too high. Just being near people hurts. But I have to be here, just 'cause. We have a hybrid model so some days are at home some are here, which proves I can easily do my job at home. I could not make my issues any clearer to management. I absolutely BEGGED them to give me even one more day a week at home. They thought about it for several…

Please verify sources and question motives

I replied to one person (who since deleted their comments after reporting me and sending me one of those 'reddit is reaching out to you because someone is worried about you' messages, who labelled me a racist and a nazi. The twitter account above rarely tweets, as far as I can see they have never said anything about living in Germany, aid to Ukraine etc. They're just a random Australian bloke who occasionally tweets about his ADHD and hobbies like DND. The original post did its job in stirring people up and making them argue about taxation, healthcare etc. To be fair most of it was civil and only a minority linked those topics with aid to Ukraine, which…

Difference between the anti work community and FIRE community?

I’ve been a part of the FIRE group for a while now and recently joined here. I’m just wondering how much crossover do these two groups have? Where do the goals/ ideals differ between the two? Are some people trying to FIRE because they’re anti work?

Can’t even describe why I don’t enjoy my job

I have a great job, with decent pay, hours and am treated well, yet for the life of me can’t describe why I day dream every day about leaving it and going travelling or doing something else. This has happened with every job I’ve had. It’s almost like the job feels like a constraint/prison and as though it deletes my personality and drains my energy. Does anyone else feel like this? I’ve tried to explain it to other people and they just look at me weird.

My boss asked me why I called out, she didn’t like my answer.

context: My boss isn't mean or rude by any stretch of the imagination. If anything, she's too much of a people pleaser to the point where it puts too much pressure on her which makes her act manic; that's the conclusion I've come to from a distance, i don't know her personally. The night after I had missed work due to some really intense period cramping and pain which I explained to her when she asked about it, followed by: *”It usually isn't that intense for me, so i don't usually miss work because of it” trying to assure her it wouldn't become a monthly occurrence. She replied “That's good, I get it. Trust me, I've experienced it too. However, I would really prefer if you still came in. I would rather have 50% you than 0% you, you know what I mean?” I think it should have taken it…

I WFH 3 days a week with a required 2 on site. I’ve been sick this week and this is what my manager said. For reference, it would be easier for me to not work at all and to self cert sickness for three days than risk a period of absence on my file during my probationary period.

CEO Salary compared to workers – UK

‘By 2pm today FTSE 100 CEOs' earnings for 2023 will surpass the median UK worker’s full time annual salary.’ I just saw this on Twitter. The level of inequality is astonishing and simply cannot continue.

I’m dreading inevitably having to go back to the working world.

So last year towards the end of February, I'd gotten fired from my job of nearly six years for a defamatory Facebook post I'd made, expressing frustration about the overtime I was having to perform. Luckily I was good with my finances and had a nice nest egg tucked away, as well as my 401K which I withdrew as the market was doing very poorly at the time. I was in shock initially, emotionless as I definitely didn't want to get fired, if my perfect attendance was anything to go on. I just hated my boss at the time, but it wasn't anything I was gonna quit over. But anyways… So since then, I haven't been in any real rush to get back to work, I decided to just have an extended vacation just doing whatever I want, whenever I want. Exploring different things, hobbies, games, etc. I briefly did…
