So just recently got a new boss and she randomly said we don’t get a 2nd break anymore. I normally work 8 hr shifts, retail, and I live in California. Am i wrong to argue with her about this? I just really don’t want to be screwed.

I left the company I was working for after 19 years. I was at the same hotel for 15 years. I put in my two weeks notice, upper manager responding by saying sorry to see you go. The next two weeks they avoided me and only said hi when I saw them. Everything with new job is better for me and my family, however it is kind disheartening that after 19 years I would even get a goodbye or an email. Just makes me feel like a number.

I will never forget how the entire work Industry claimed for YEARS they could not pay $15 an hour for a cashier. Only to have COVID hit and suddenly everyone and McDonalds included ….$17/hr! Please come work for us! Never forget 🤣

I've been thinking about this old saying a lot lately seeing it crop up in conversation, and it's just INSANE to me how many people believe that nonsense. Money 100% buys happiness in actuality of course, both directly and indirectly. (Hell and for this sub, it QUITE literally buys you the ability to not HAVE to work if you get enough of it!) It's always those same rich people saying things like “money isn't all there is to life/isn't that important”, and it really shows their privilege. The real truth though is that as much as the rich like to say things like that to try to sound “noble”, they all would also NEVER give up their wealth of course lol

On Monday I was suddenly terminated without cause, and all they would say is that it was a business decision. I get two weeks of severance, and an optional third week if I sign this thing agreeing not to sue. What do you think it means that I was terminated without cause as a business decision? Was it a performance issue or just lack of work/struggling financially?

So, I am not sure if this post goes here, but I have a question. So my family is going on vacation (I already went on vacation and used all my pto up thst I had accrued), and I want to go with them. I live in PA and Wfh full time. My job is located states away in a different time zone. I have done my job in my boyfriend's house a city away, at my cousins a city away, in NJ down the shore, but never that far away. They have never said anything, and as long as my connection is good, I can complete my job anywhere. However, should I ask them if it's okay?
