Context: my gf is a domestic abuse victim, fighting her past for several years, she still can't leave the house or talk to strangers. I think the one issue that can be “fixed” is the housing costs/rent. Lower cost of housing would leave more money in people's pockets for food, ultities, entertainment, etc. Now I know raising salaries would help that as well without needing to make a drastic change in home prices, but given that we see businesses would rather lay people off then spend more on them cheaper housing/rent seems to be the only “solution”.

My last shift at my job was in mid January (provided 3 weeks notice) and my employer JUST sent out my final paycheck (over a month late). On my last day, I left a note with two managers that provided the address to send my paycheck to, and even texted one of the managers the day after to ensure they had my address. I had to leave the country shortly after quitting due to a family emergency and am still out of the country. I understood that in Oregon, I was entitled to receive my paycheck within 48 hrs of my last day since I provided at least 2 weeks notice to quit. I stayed at my first corporate job for 12 years and that hurt me so badly. My tech skills were hindered, and when I left they hired someone else and paid them what I made after being there so long. I went to another business and stayed only two months bc it was a toxic work environment.
