Let's say someone (lets call him gordon) is really is having an absolute nightmare with their job and needs a week off sick to recover (in UK).
What's a good reason Gordon could give his employer for his absence and still be able to leave the house without fear of being spotted.
If he says he's off with stress and spends the day at the beach for example, that's okay. But if he says sickness and diarrhea… that's a bit suspect.
Gordon might be reluctant to give stress as a reason since employers can look unfavourably on this for someone's long term career. You're also sometimes asked if you've been off with stress on future job applications/occupational health questionnaires.
