Boss cuts my hours

I got hired about 2 months ago as a sales associate. One of the questions asked during the interview was why should she hire me over an interviewee that she scheduled later during the day. My manager has hired both of us. It is important to note that I signed a non-competitive agreement. She kept hiring more people for other positions (higher than s.a. and team leader as a salary).

Later, at the start of the holidays, she surprised us with a new hiree (Also, a sales associate.). She told us that she was seasonal, that she was going to leave before summer, that she was going to lend a hand for the holiday season blah blah blah.

Since then, my boss decided to cut my hours. At first, when she published the schedule for week 1, I was perplexed as to why I was not offered any shift during the week. I reasoned that she was maybe giving me a break for my health because I took a day off for a medical appointment. Very naive.

But just today, she sent us the schedule for week 2. It has the same trend; worse is that I don't cover anymore the weekend. I only have one shift during the weekday.

I started to look at the new hiree hours. Most were days/shifts I use to cover. I went from 14-17 hours/week to 5 hours per week. As a student, these reductions give me more financial stress.

Should I ask ask a transfer directly?
