I've been with a company for approximately 1.5 years, and previously, the expectations were always no OT (to the point where if a job ran long, we would get sent home early the next day or at the end of the week to avoid OT).
Now due to a high overturn rate of employees, my boss is mandating a rotating OT schedule after he asked for volunteers and no one really wanted to work additional time. I am already frustrated with this job (I'm one of the most senior staff and responsible for training essentially all new staff, however I am not being compensated as a trainer and given the most difficult/time consuming cases) and am currently in fhe process of looking for a new job.
I sent my boss an email essentially stating that I would not be participating in mandatory OT for the previous reasons as well as my mental health.
I was looking for advice on what you guys might do, or if I have any recourse if my boss attempts to terminate me for my 'refusal' to work.
I am based out of Pennsylvania and the company is based on canada. Its a small company with only like 20 people; we contract to larger companies for tech installations on transit
I also CC'd the companies VP on the email to make multiple people aware/leave a digital trail
