Bragging about never taking sick days : A story from a former Boss

It was brought up during a normal conversation. Let me preface by saying I really liked my boss 90% of the time, but they definitely had different values on loyalty and taking time for yourself. They preceeded to tell me since starting to work full time, they had never taken a single work day. Not just this job, any job. They were a sales associate, then an assistant manager, then became a store manager at a different chain store for years, when that chain closed they became a store manager then regional manager, and eventually ended up managing our store after leaving the previous company. So, since the mid 1980s. One time they were so sick they passed out at work so they had to take a half day but it wasn't a sick day. This was said almost like bragging. All I could think of was all the free time they gave these companies, each place they had 1 to 2 weeks paid sick leave.
