Can I quit an hour before I get fired?

Let’s say Monday morning at 9am I get an email from my boss asking for a last-minute meeting at 10am and HR is on the call. I’m on a PIP so I know I’m getting fired. Can I immediately send over my resignation? Then will I have officially quit vs getting fired? I don’t need unemployment (if I’d even be eligible) so the main reason for doing this is because I’d rather not have to deal with disclosing that I was fired from a job to future employers.

This job is going to suck the life out of me

I work for one of the big contract food service companies, meaning we do office cafeterias. I was hired to manage the dining hall. My GM wants me to be super hands on, helping the team out during service. And I am. The problem is, my clothes gets dirty every day when I help change food trays and bus the serving stations. One day I got a big stain on my shirt and I had to switch into an associate polo. I started wearing that polo shirt for a week straight because I really don’t want to wash or even dry clean my nice shirts after every wear. Another reason is because I’m moving so my clothes are in boxes. A polo shirt is just very convenient. My GM asked me two days ago why I was wearing a polo shirt, I told him the reasons. He didn’t say anything…

Boss finally fucked up.

TLDR: Manager forced me to end my 10 minute break in the middle of it to work, now I’m exposing him for everything he’s done. So, I work at a grocery store chain, I won’t name to remain anonymous, and my manager is at most incompetent. Let’s call him Rob. So Rob is not a good manager, despite our store winning the “Store of the Year.” He claims he does a good job, of course, but he only ever works 3 days a week and never closes. He is always delegating and forcing others to take his work, as do the other managers. Above all else though, he loves to make himself seem important. He loves to throw his weight around the female staff, bullying them out of their aisles (lucky not sexually harassing them, he’s gay.), he likes to brag how much work he does, and he likes to…

Quick reminder: sometimes your co-workers aren’t your friends.

We were planning trips, hanging out, getting to know one another and I thought I was making real friends, and it's hard for me to make friends. As soon as I got fired….crickets, nothing from them, save for one person who asked me how did I want my things to be sent to me, since I'm not allowed back on the premises. TBH that hurt worst than the firing, which I will be filing a unlawful dismissal claim for. Having a rough go at it, was hoping for some support, got nothing.

Four months in and I want to quit but job security is difficult to find

I started a new job four months ago and I’m already burnt out. I work in retail / sales and it’s a field that I absolutely dread. I feel so unhappy and unsatisfied with what I do, I find it hard to be grateful about it since it was seemingly hopefully opportunity but things are taking a turn for me. I have not completed my degree yet so my job opportunities are slim. I’m currently enrolled at local college trying to figure out my major. I’ve been desperately trying to figure out this whole “career” thing and it’s exhausting, I really hate doing work that feels meaningless.

Quitting was right for my mental health but now I’m terrified

I was giving everything to my last job. I wish I could be one of those people that just clocks in and clocks out doing the bare minimum but I couldn’t. My employer made it seem the whole time like I was valued and had great ideas until it came time to put their money where their mouth is and… they didn’t. During the time I was there I led multiple projects and worked overtime most weeks (I was salaried so nothing came out of that) and watched as the they made changes and morale slowly died. I dealt with so much sexism and stupidity and was so ignorant to think that I would at least have a positive experience when discussing title/compensation change since all of my reviews were great but apparently that was too much to ask. It was taking a huge toll on my mental health, so…

Want me to work for free

So this company I've worked part time for has really been getting to me lately. I changed careers and started from the bottom and needed a second job to make ends meet. These guys had always been pretty good bit lately they are getting to me. I do cleaning. I worked my way to an account that was close to my house. They asked me to fill in for someone for a few months at another account also close to home. I did it with the understanding that i would go back to my original spot when the worker came back. Well the worker came back and they moved me to 2 accounts 30min from my home and one was only 3 days a week. So im driving 30 minutes both ways 2 days a week for 16 dollars. They were nice enough (or so I thought) to increase my pay…

Company expects me to keep all of my current responsibilities when I take my new job

For privacy purposes, I will keep this as vague as possible to protect myself from potential retaliation. Part of this is a vent, part of it is a request for advice on if there is any legal recourse or ways I can protect myself. TLDR: The company I accepted a position with is in the same ownership group as my current employer. Current employer expects me to continue my full level of current responsibilities in addition to my new role's responsibilities because it's what's “best for the business”. Does not intend on increasing compensation. (1/8) I currently work for company A. At this company, I manage various programs of custom made products, each with their own unique set of criteria for acceptance. I manage anywhere from 10-20 different programs simultaneously, and currently oversee $70M+ in backlog. These programs can take many years to complete, and a few of my current…
