The school calendar, which is on their website, clearly states that school is closed during the August break, and that teachers have 2 days that we are scheduled to come in during the beginning of Sept before students return the following week. Now they are randomly making this demand to give them 2 more days. Is this allowed? Would employees face repercussions?

Boss wont pay final cheque
Live in BC, Canada. Boss is petty. Ive given him plenty of time to pay me my final cheque but its now a week and a half late from the six days of the law requiring them to pay me out, and one day late from when I would regularly be getting paid If I didnt quit… Gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking theyd pay me on the regularly scheduled pay day but no luck. I have the timesheet showing Im owed 31 hours for the week. But the photo I had taken doesnt have the date on it. But the geo-location and timestamp on the photo matches the dates. Will I be okay If I take this guy to court for my cheque? Dont want to look like a fool. Also will I be compensated further than my 31 hours for going through this whole process?
So I am 17 Male and I work for McDonald’s as a crew member for about two years (My first year was at a different McDonalds but i quit for bad management and about another year with this McDonald’s) Furthermore, I feel like my managers are so strict to the point that they want me to smile the whole time while doing the rush hour, which I kinda get it. However, I hate it when they ask me to doing things all at once, such as i’m doing the drinks and taking the orders and my screen fills up, which one of my managers asks if they are ready when she sees that i need help, i used to answer her but now i just ignore her and she just stands there waiting for me to hand it over to drinks and dither says to clean my station and fix…
I have been working at this food service location for about half a year, I have built up a decent rapport with my coworkers and management. Since I started, the only two managers on duty at any given time usually arrive late. I try to be understanding, since we all seem to get along and at the end of the day nobody's perfect and shit happens right? So I was willing to look past it. The GM lives about a 15 minute walk at WORST. Team Lead lives about a 20-30 minute drive away. I live about as far away but take public transport, so my commute is roughly an hour and a half. I usually arrive roughly 25-15 minutes ahead of my shift start time due to transit schedules. I would prefer to be early than late. Once in a while, the general manager has been known to adjust…
I got this far in my life always watching, always wondering, always (without even realizing it) calculating, and trying so hard to understand the older generation, in every trade I had even a slight affinity for. I'm 34 years now, and I still always feel like I'm a child. Even when I am more knowledgeable than my boss or most of the people he can call. Am I supposed to get up one day and say “no fuck off I know my shit?” Or do most people wait for that generation they feel like children along side of to pass away? I'm sure this isn't the right sub.. I'm on acid. Fuck you a d your stereotype
On Friday he fired me… No warning, no pay… how are some people so heartless?
I have a teenage nephew who is trying to get a job. He found an opening for a fast food restaurant in our town and decided to apply for it. He didn't hear back so he sent them an email, they told him to come in on a specific date between 12 and 3pm for an interview. My nephew arrived for this interview at around 11:50am, he then proceeded to wait about 45 minutes until a manager came out and told him that they were too busy and to come back tomorrow at 10:00am. My nephew was annoyed but agreed to come back the next day. The next day on his way to his interview there was something blocking the road that caused DOT to come out and clear it, this made my nephew 7 minutes late for this interview. When he arrived the manager told him that because he…
I've posted here before, and I had a good outcome with that situation. I did contact an employment lawyer and had a good experience with hr. The issues were resolved to my satisfaction and things were going great. I applied for a job in my target department and got it in June. I was so happy to move forward to place I wanted to be. I worked in this department from 2019-2021. I worked in a different department after 2021. So I'm back. I know a lot of people and I'm good with the supervisors in that area too. I have a skill so I can make more money which has been great. There's a ton of people on vacation right now so I'm training on a lot of new jobs. The one I've been doing for the last 2 weeks is becoming a problem. My partner is awful. He…
They Didn’t Even Clean the Blood
I have been meaning to ad this for a while. I am pretty damn pissed still so maybe it will help. I work in behavioral health and recently my coworker who worked night was brutally killed and found by my coworkers who worked the following shift. It was my day off and had no idea until 24 hours later. Before anyone asks, know that yes, the facility did a half ass job with security and they in my opinion are heavily responsible (not enough staffing, faulty locks ect.) and yes they are going to get sued. The client is going to prison. I knew them fairly well and though NOTHING could excuse what happened I am also grieving for the loss on both ends. The client was also one of the least likely culprits in the beginning. The salt in the wound was they hired a cleaning crew for the the…
I (20) have worked many part time jobs since I was 16. I always worked food industry jobs and since I worked and saved in high school, I never had to work full time at one of those jobs. Now I work my first non food service job (an auto maintenance corporation). For various reasons including moving out of my parents house, my saving have dwindled and I’m now basically living paycheck to paycheck, which means I’ve had to work full-time over summer to afford rent. I get financial help for school which helps me pay rent during the academic year. But working full time has proven to be way more difficult than I was expecting, and it has me kinda worried about the future. Now I will say, my future career will be graphic design, which is something I’m way more passionate about than cars (I do like a…
