finally got a decent raise….

Guess who's hours got cut! I'm easily their most seasoned 'partner', I don't call out unless I'm dying, I know all of our regulars by name and order, im constantly doing extra tasks and never stand around doing nothing, I get along with everyone (except my Assistant store manager and my store manager), and I still can't get more than 20 hours a week unless I go and beg for them every two weeks…and I'm done. No more begging, just job searching…I was pissed all day today, but zen about my choice. I'm tired of being a grown assed adult who gets treated like a drunk teenager who no shows

How To Max Out PTO When Quitting A Job/Excuse To Take Short-Notice PTO?

I recently accepted a new job that wants to start me in a couple weeks. I am still employed and have racked up over 10 days of PTO. If I quit, the company almost certainly won't pay me out that PTO (my state doesn't make them). Ideally, I would like to take a whole week of PTO at least starting the day of my new job to double dip on paychecks. I just have zero inspiration for why I would suddenly need a week or more off of a remote job. Can you guys help me brainstorm? Also, if I quit the day after taking a bunch of PTO, they legally have to pay me for all of it, right? Because my term date would be after the PTO?

Can my boss deduct money from my quarterly bonus as a sub-contractor?

Sub contractor for a sales company. I’m 100% commission except my quarterly bonus which is based on over all team numbers. This quarter my bosses laid out a new structure that includes deductions from that bonus if I miss meetings, don’t hit my personal numbers, don’t go to team hangouts, etc. what does the antiwork world think about this?

Given a Job offer by Amazon. Concerned

As the title says, I recently got a management job offer by amazon for right out of college. It's more of a recruitment pitch really, but it has me concerned about it. Amazon seems to get very bad reviews from the people who work for them. Am I wrong? is this a trap? or perhaps I'm being paranoid and this is a great opportunity? I would like the thoughts of those of you who have experienced working for amazon or might know better than me.

Is it “normal” for American companies to conduct surveillance against their own employees?

I see some fucked up posts that reference an employer monitoring or controlling their activities, even when they’re on break or something. As a non-American: isn’t that considered creepy af and grounds to find a new job, full stop? There’s always been micromanaging people out there, but it’s a new level when they try to monitor or control you off the clock. Even on the clock, that shit’s usually insulting at best. Sometimes I feel like a friend who wants y’all to leave a bad relationship but doesn’t know how to effectively encourage it to happen.

Coming to antiwork for advice. I need help with some terminolgy as well…

So why does it seem like every leader or supervisor has this tactic of making you feel like crap when you make a mistake in hopes that if they make you feel like crap you definitely won’t make the same mistake twice. This seems like a toxic leadership quality and I’m just curious how a leader could do that in a healthy way or the opposite; but still have the same effect of letting you know you made a mistake and please try not to let it happen anymore. And for the terminology part, would just be putting “proper” 1 or 2 word descriptors to all the stuff I said, since I apparently can only type in paragraphs when just words would do.

How do you answer this interview question?

I’m currently employed, been with the company for 10 years and I’m finally exploring other avenues. I have worked my way up the corporate ladder and done well for myself. However I have found a company I am really interested in working for based on the company values, so I have started applying for a couple jobs within the company. During my interviews they always ask, why are you looking to leave X company? I want to say because this is the same job that I currently do, you posted your salary range and even your starting pay is significantly higher than my current salary, why wouldn’t I want to make a move?? But that is socially unacceptable! How do you answer this question? And why is it even asked? Clearly if someone is looking for a new job they aren’t happy with their current one for a Myriad of…
